Do you still believe in religions?

Belief 'aint like unbelief. If you're a believer and you finally got to come to the well of belief itself , then you 'aint got to look no further. There 'aint no further. But the unbelievers got a problem. He's set out to unravel the world. For everything he can point to that 'aint true, he leaves two false things laying there.

I believe in religions. They undoubtedly exist. I am confronted by that inescapable fact every time I venture over near the former Summit on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning and get caught in a tangle of traffic. (Since when do lemmings drive? Don't you think allowing cops to stop traffic to facilitate ingress to and egress from church parking lots is a violation of the Constitutional mandate of church-state separation? I fucking do, and it pisses me off!)

I'm pretty sure god is a figment of man's imagination, though.

Frisbeetarianism sounds like a theology I could get behind, however. Originally Posted by lizardking

Everyone eventually becomes a believer . . . Whenever you are in a car crash, or fall from tall buildings, someone is always saying "Oh God"
Nope.

Unless you're talking about the FSM, then yes, I'm a pastafarian.
um i will agree to disagree, i dont feel i can go to a church and get saved knowing im going to walk out those doors right after and do what i do. when you get saved your suppose to live like christ and i cant say im going to live christ like beacause that would be lie. i know god loves me no matter what but i still feel i shouldnt get saved untill this time in my life has passed Originally Posted by Sweet Mandy

You don't need religion to tell you how to live your life and to make you a good person. Live your life to be the best Mandy you can be, Christ be damned.

Do I believe in religions plural? Yes, because they exist. To go a step further, I think they exist for their own purpose and historically as a natural extension of mankind’s need to explain the universe and to modify mankind’s behavior to suit the needs of the community. Unfortunately, the good of the community has been abused and morphed by the clever and the powerful to control the masses like Lenin said. I think as a whole they are dangerous and should be used with extreme caution.

Now, do I believe in God? Yes. I do not believe in the Christian God/s depending on your view on the matter. Traditional Judaism is my belief system. When I began my search out of atheism, I was hoping to confirm my belief that God doesn’t exist. That he is a figment of man’s imagination; desire to be immortal; and to attempt to explain things in a pre-scientific era. Now, that I have settled on a singular deity, I find it uncomplicated and comforting.

We all fear death, those young enough to convince themselves that death may not apply are often dawn into Atheism. To often the better label would be Agnostic to claim to know the unknowable is wild hubris.

Most regions are means of coping with that innate fear of death, the notion that Jesus would come back as a televangelist is pretty amusing. If you get the chance read the Gnostic Gospels if they are to be believed there is a chance the sweet baby jesus was a lot more like us than someone whorshipping (typo and it stays) at temple Summit. I really would like to tie Victoria Osteen up and anally probe her with my man sceptre, then she might really have an epiphany.
