No, no, no. As soon as she won that primary MSNBC and CNN were touting her as one of the new "fresh faces for the future" of the Dem party. If they weren't, yes, she would have just been another freshman. Conservatives felt the need to respond and expose her for a dolt.

Of course, fellow freshman congresswoman Omar is trying to give her a run for her money.
