5 countries have already launched their own digital currencies! But 35 countries were getting ready to launch (in pilot stage) their own central bank-backed CBDC in May of last year. (Bitcoin.com news)

The 5 countries who've fully launched their own digital currencies: the Bahamas, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, and Grenada.

Jerome Powell, who's the US Federal Reserve Chairman, said this February the digital dollar is a “very high priority.”

The US must compete with the digital currencies of the world, and they've been moving towards creating their own digital dollar for years. In fact, Perianne Boring, (founder and president of the Chamber of Digital Commerce which educates our government on digital currency, (due to it's complexity), established the Chamber of Digital Commerce specifically to work with the US government on making new policies so that digital currency can be adopted faster.
