Keep the North and East Texas Forum ALIVE

Well, up until about 6 months ago my policy was that there was nothing I could post on the boards that was going to make a gentleman want to come see me if my ads, reviews and website didn't do that already. My often repeated joke was "Why post? They're not paying me for my opinion." Until I started to get a look at some of the new people that were rolling into the boards.

I watched with a large amount of shock and horror as inappropriate things were thrown out into open forum and chatted about with a casual tone that terrified me. The refrain that often went through my head was "Is so and so really that stupid? They're a train wreck waiting to happen." Gradually, it hit me that it wasn't that these people were stupid or crass but rather that they were uneducated about the hobby and the protocol that goes with playing in that sandbox.

I came to realize that when I started I had the benefit of a few wonderful old guard men and women who gave me the benefit of some advice that has never steered me wrong. Any blunders I have made in this business were when I stepped from the path and blatantly ignored their advice. If they had seen me and left me to flounder in the deep waters of the hobby I can look back and see myself making those exact same mistakes. Thus, I was forced on some level to step up and add my voice... something that I am sure a lot of people regret.

To make a long story short (too late), you're right Lemontrees and if you don't say anything... how will anyone ever know?
Matador, I always get a smile whenever I see you post out here. I seem to remember when you were just a newbie. I love seeing how you dove into everything head first. Now, if I can just get you out to visit with me again. Sort of a before and after. Originally Posted by wynterstark

To all the folks who participate in the hobby in this area, St. Chris has just taken up our request to find a solution on this. While he mentioned my handle, I don't "play" in this area. I normally travel to Dallas when in the mood. I think those of you who hobby often in the area should let your ideas be read. Also, if you are a lady who tours, what changes would give you better tools to have a more successful tour?

This is the time to participate, so whatever ideas you have in mind, please post them. You can post them here or to this other thread in the Website News and Announcements.

Thank you and please post as many ideas as you can think that will improve our situation. The Staff can then choose what bets works or submit the Top ideas to a vote.

I don't know the area that well and I don't tour terribly often, so I can't offer too much insight. Did they mention how they're dividing this area? I'm directionally challenged and couldn't get across a parking lot without my Garmin, it would be nice to hear how the more experienced ladies handle their tour circuit. I probably only have one more good tour in me before I disappear for a month or two... it would be nice if I could take Autumn around and make it count.

Bryan/College Station has lots of love to give, many of us can't really travel to H-Town or Dallas so whatever comes through, we tend to try and make the most of it. Anyone need any input or help with our area, especially when A&M games and traffic would be a problem, feel free to drop me a line.

Always here to help!
