Nurse, sorry but that comes from the Center for Disease Control and are solely American statistics. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/statistics/basics/ataglance.html

It's not that people are unaware of the risks, it's just that this new generation of providers and hobbyists didn't live through the AIDS scare of the late 80s and 90s and fewer of them have the same fear of certain activities as many of us older folks.

Lecturing is likely counterproductive at this point. They've heard it all before, and they've made up their minds (at least until some health crisis personally impacts them).

We should now move beyond trying to convince people not to engage in "risky" (comparatively speaking) behavior. Let folks openly ask for what they want, without shaming them, and encourage guys to write reviews that honestly depict what actually went on during the session. You and I can then have better information with which we can make decisions as to who we want to see. Originally Posted by TinMan

40,000 people commit suicide each year. 75% of them are males between the ages of 25 and 65.
My guess is these are the ones that no longer have BBBJ and DATY. Just sayin!
This is a risky hobby with or without the Ebola scare. We are all adults and actively make the choice to participate. Choose wisely and play safely.

Maybe we should all just wear spacesuits and then when we get together for a session, masturbate ourselves in front of each other. Of course, the providers would have to go down a little bit on their donation price.

Regardless of the scary viruses out there and the danger, when it is your time to go, it is your time to go and there is nothing you can do about it. All we can just be cautious, but not overbearing and make as wise choice as we can with the info provided on who we want to be intimate with.

So you like BBBJ? You said it yourself, you're getting pre-cum in your mouth doing that. So what is the difference? You think pre-cum can't carry an STD?

Basically what you're saying by that is that you're taking a risk, but you think your risk is lower by not taking a larger quantity with CIM later. You're still taking a risk. That's what all of us are doing, the degree of which obviously is varying. Originally Posted by Sleepy363

doesn't "everybody" already have something anyway?

The person you should be worried about having unprotected sex with is the one night stand that you're picking up at the bar.

Or having sex in the nursing home.

Other than the examples mentioned by Tinman above, it's the older generation that are really "upping" the numbers in terms of having STD's and for the same reasons that Tinman stated.

A lot of older people didn't have indiscriminate sex when they were younger. It wasn't socially acceptable. (A point to argue since I don't believe that sex, outside of marriage, is socially acceptable today but I'm digressing!)

The real elderly folks are the ones getting STD's and getting it on without using condoms. That vision in your head is correct. Your elderly Aunt Gertrude really is giving that shriveled geriatric man a blow job in the old folk's retirement home.

Every. Chance. She. Gets.

Hell. I plan to do it, too!

I didn't do a multi-quote or anything but I had wanted to quote the initial post. Frankly, I'm rather surprised Nurse, given your experience and background, that you would even start this topic.

But I understand the frustrations that in today's environment we're facing and completely understand where you're coming from. This world is changing and is actually becoming more base in many areas.

I blame porn.

But no one is going to change their viewpoints on this issue, even if we fuss and gripe about it.

At any rate ... hope you're doing well. Sometimes, it's just nice to complain about a situation.

Warmly,
Elisabeth
