Veteran Discount...thoughts?

OP I think a recognition would be a nice gesture for active duty, reserve and vets.

For those wondering about having the Veterans designation added to their TDL I checked with the DMV. It is free when renewing and can be added at any other time for $11

Offer it - if dude doesn't want to show ID because of personal info, he doesn't get the discount. He can choose - no big deal.

If you are dealing with the VA in any way, it helps.

I firmly believe that the designation on my TDL got me out of at least 1 speeding ticket with a warning.

It came in handy when rebuilding the backyard deck, The Home Depot gave me a 10% discount on materials with it. Lowes and other business offer year round veteran discounts also.

Veterans day is always a bonus as many restaurants offer to comp. the meal of folks that can prove they are vets.

You earned the right to have that designation, like many other benefits available after you leave the military, be proud of your service. I am appreciative of those that are willing to show their support of my service and of all the other deserving veterans.

Any vet taking advantage of any discount anywhere (and there are many wonderful businesses like the ones O'Mike mentioned who honor our current and former military with price breaks) is going to have a government-issued card or the stamp on their TDL.

I think it's a great idea! In the future, Fancy will give all veterans a 10% discount, and that can be in addition to any other promotion I'm running, like my current Sweet Pea Memorial Pet Food Drive.

Seems fair to me, especially if a lady honors it on top of any current special she has going. Most commercial promotions have you choose one or the other, rarely allowing both discounts.

Perhaps just a flat "Veterans get $__ off every session!" would be easier and more politically acceptable?
