I do have to give them a tiny bit of credit, as the Bush tax cuts were scheduled to expire at the end of 2010. But Obama and the Democrats, who controlled Congress at that time, kept them in effect until the end of 2012 for all taxpayers, and made them permanent for lower and middle income payers. They did this because they know lower tax rates promote economic growth. Too bad they didn’t make the tax cuts permanent for all – maybe the recovery wouldn’t have been as anemic.
