South By South West March 11th-20th

Fuck, the traffic is awful and the people are awful too. Parking is impossible. When is this shit over?

SXSW is bigger than ever this year.... I now understand why all the bar staff at every club hate this event. I had to pull the plug on my last band last night as they wanted to go past 2am. All in all first night went OK. There was a line forming for the next days show at 2.30am.

Thanks for getting me and my buddy in last night. You know its SXSW week when you so tons of Lone Star beer being sold!

I had to yell a lot at people at the front of the stage to move in between bands. These young punks don't listen well.. One little girl said for me to ask nicely after I did three times, I got a little impatient. I also discovered that guest engineers suck.. One did not know what he was doing...Controlled Chaos!

Yeah those sound engineers sucked man. As long as one of the set changes took you would have thought they were getting the sound ready for Iron Maiden or something!

We had guy tell everyone through the PA in German to get the Fuck out of the Club last night that was priceless..

Last night went much better on time and done early.... Bands were a lot more professional last night too.

The first night of bands, I have no idea how they call that new wave industrial NE underground crap music...

Last nights bands were Punk Rock and Folk Punk Rock a lot better and easier to set up with short set lists.

Cant wait for this shit to be over. Any good shows going on after this weekend?

The most professional bands were from Austin and they knew how to sound check....

Most the bands for SXSW are crap............Just a few gems here and there.... It has gotten so watered down over the years.....

Agreed. Ventured downtown Saturday night. The few bands I heard mostly sucked.

Never saw you, Wylde. I was at Red7 for Ume & next door at Beauty Bar for Peelander Z. The line for Foo @ Stubb's went to I-35, no kidding. Would've been great to see Foo play, but I've seen them many times.

For the ones who didn't find great music, sorry. It took me hours to set up my SX schedule and most of it was listening to songs. Anyhow, I discovered a lot of good music once again. Some of it is random by bumping into friends & following their leads, like catching Fritz Tantrum @ IFC.

Need this week to recover my liver and feet.

I was on the inside at Red 7, there is a patio and that was a separate stage.

It is hit or miss at SXSW or lots of careful planning...

You do have to consider that out of 1900 bands only a handful will stand out to you.
