IBH ... He's babbling regurgitation from the lameass Liberal Media ...

In other words ... he doesn't know WTF he's talking about.
I think as it sits right now that only 30 states actually have laws requiring that the electors vote for the candidate who won that state's popular vote ..... and I'm afraid that during Trump's administration we're going to see an all-out assault on the Electoral College system ..... I think liberal senators will start introducing bills in their states to either abolish the system or allow the electors in their states to vote for whoever wins the popular vote ..... by wording the laws so that they are no longer bound to vote for the popular vote winner in their particular state ..... I sincerely believe the democrats won't quit until they take the Electoral College down ..... or at least take it through the court system all the way to the Supreme Court for the final say .....

Because of the ASSAULT upon the Electors this time to change their State's wishes by going against the State's laws and/or their pledges and oaths as Electors, I can envision a shift in the opposite direction of what you have suggested.

By making it mandatory it removes the temptation to bribe, assault, intimidate, and threaten Electors to vote otherwise than they were mandated and/or they signed an oath/pledge they would. The "Liberal Democrats" are not going to get much mileage for some years to come.
Yes many of the electors were "mandated and/or signed an oath/ or pledged they would" follow their states laws ..... and some states have kicked out and replaced electors who have wanted to change their votes ..... so I guess the next question is, what should be the penalties for those electors who default on those pledges or oaths? ..... would being charged with a felony and possible prison time make them think twice about upholding the election laws? ..... and should more states have their election laws worded more precisely to make sure the electors play by the rules? .....
