OP has a legit question and obviously there are many viewpoints. Personally I won't put up a deposit unless it's like a bucket list porn star (which hasn't happened yet). There really isn't anybody that I just HAVE to see where I would even go to the trouble or the risk of a deposit.
I make an appointment
I get $200
I show up
I pay
I do fun stuff
I leave

This shouldn't be so difficult.
Interesting points on both sides. I only require a deposit when a client requests that I visit him in another city if I'm not on a scheduled tour there. Running off with a deposit is not worth ruining my reputation.

Both sides have great points. Seems like research is the key. However much biz comes from clients who are not associated with this board, or any board.
I require a deposit for everything over 4hrs and all newbies. So far its worked well. & I know I wouldn't run off with their money. A crappy rep isn't worth a free 100 bucks.

After a crap situation with a newbie, I do think I am going to start asking for a deposit from them before they see me.

I'd like to chat more about working with newbies. Great idea!

Very well stated.

I'm trying to not take your comment personally because I do advertise every week and browse the ISO's (to see if I might fit what a guy is looking for) and do hit up chat to drum up biz because that is what I am doing at this time.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. That is what this board is for. It's a hobby community with areas for doing those exact things. I used to be able to just participate in co-ed and get business just from that. Originally Posted by tntangie

I do knock the ISO girls that respond to every ISO and they do not remotely resemble what someone is seeking. I wouldn’t buy them a cheeseburger on their word.

tiatate is the last whore to take any hobby advice from, she has these fantasy illusions when it comes to rates and check out ALL of her fake reviews, let's not forget that she'll out every client that gets in her bad side.

Look at her post history and see what she's about. she's probably still pimped

I can't blame the providers that charge deposits, although most do not or do not advertise they do. The ladies are trying to get a guarantee to make at least some money for doing nothing but reponding to an inquiry, if not break even to foot the bill for an incall hotel room she otherwise would not have paid for to spend very little if any of their own money.

But, let's put that shoe on the other foot. If a provider wants to charge a deposit or even full donation payment in advance of appointment (and there are dopes that will pay), then how about a hobbyist get some guarantee as well. For instance, a provider sends a guy gas/mileage/toll money in advance, and if the provider NCNS, he has not made money, but at least he did not have to spend any. But, just as a guy can subtract the deposit he paid in advance out of the donation, he can give her that money back she paid him, adding it to her donation.

Does that make sense? Probaly not, just as paying deposits in advance does not make any sense. Is it frustrating, yes, but it is all the costs associated with being in the hobby. Report all those NCNS, timewasters, ect. as that is what this site is suppose to be for.

Bottom line, if you cannot afford the correlated costs of doing business, don't be a provider/hobby.

I can see it being appropriate in some situations, in order to turn a "no, I can't" into a "yes, I can."

Newbies? I get it. Traveling? I get it.

Regular ol' incall/outcall appointments?

Real encounters that soured my view on deposits/prepays.

Popular lady was always asking me to prepay. My white knight ass (which has since tarnished) would prepay for multi-hour appts. It got harder and harder to get her to make good because she was busy taking care of "paying customers". When it took her over a month to make good and she shows up at my place, flat-ass broke, refusing to leave unless I bought her some gas is when I decided to stop seeing her.

Another superprovider got sick shortly after starting a overnight date. Instead of a refund we agreed the funds would just apply to a future overnighter. Like pulling teeth to get her to show up. When we finally settled on a day and time she kept bumping me claiming she was getting her nails done. She had no idea I was answering email inquiries from the "paying customers" she was bumping me for.

Aaaaand the lady that needed money so she and her family could have a nice 4th of July weekend. She spent all the money and didn't have any to get a room to make good as we agreed so she just went silent on me.

Guys, learn from my dumass mistakes. If a provider has your money already you ARE a lower priority.

If you are dumb enough to pay a deposit you deserve all that you get
