And once again we learn why the 2 goal lead is the worst lead in hockey. Jonathan Drouin with the game winner for Montreal!

Yeah I know. But at least the Flyers never tanked year after year to get the top draft pick in consecutive seasons. At least the Flyers have never filed for bankruptcy protection and then needed a former superstar to buy his team to make sure he got paid what the franchise owed on his contract after he retired

At least the Blackhawks won all 3 of there cups controversy free. Cup number 3 a lot of real hockey fans would say for Pittsburgh involved a screw job by the NHL to help solidify sid's legacy. And I for one did laugh when Tom Wilson and the Caps physical presence bullied the Penguins out of the playoffs last year. And when letang knew how to fight what did he do? He hid behind the NHL brass thinking the caps would fold up like a tent as always and they could half ass it with the refs helping them. Instead the refs made them have to actually earn it. And Washington's supporting cast stepped up and then Kuznetsov gave the rest of the world what we have been starving for: Penguins elimination day.

Montreal may suck today. But when it comes to legacies and stories of any professional sports franchises, no one compares to all of the Canadiens dynasties when they won the cup in the 50's and when they restored order in taking the cup from the heathens to begin their long run that completed the 70's on top of 2 cups earlier in the decade.
True, Montreal went on a run in the seventies. They had a shrewd g /m who dangled players who were in the twilight of their careers in front of the expansion teams. He stockpiled top draft picks to keep the talent pipeline full. Why do ya think Fred Shero in Philly decided that the only way to compete was with fisticuffs?

The Flyers of the 70's were built to fight. When the big bad St. Louis Blues bludgeoned the smaller Flyers in the 60's breaking arms and legs intentionally Ed Snider said we will not let that happen again. So when Schultz, Seleski,Kelly and Dupont came along, they punked Noel Picard and the Plager brothers who did the thuggery no one heard about because Montreal and Boston swept that trash off the porch keeping order with the original 6 holding on to the cup. The Flyers were the expansion team who got lucky getting lucky with Bobby Clarke in round 2 when every team passed up on him 2 times. The LA Kings passed 3 times before the Flyers did their homework and risked a second round pick on a guy who would go on to be a superstar. Flyer fans can say what if ,if Parent did not get hurt before the 1976 cup final.
