Admins checked him out and found nothing to fear. Beyond that, the information is not made public. Moderators do have some tools to check out members - well beyond what you might think! I found that out when I helped Susan create Area69 and as a moderator on another group.
So knowing he was not a thread, I share a few things and watched as he became more active. A few reviews under his belt made me more comfortable. I grew to respect his opinions even though I rarely agree with them. Rarely childish but always insightful.

MOD's have the tools via board to check out IP addresses and that's about it. They don't have the resources to do background checks on people nor do they have time do that seeing as they are volunteers.
No one including MOD's, board owners, hobbyists and providers alike never know if a person is not to be feared until its too late.
No of us (MOD's/providers/owners/hobbyists) have a crystal ball to see if a person is to be feared or not. If we did, no one would be scammed, robbed, ladies beaten, money stolen and we'd know who was LE.
