In BR for down home food go to Table Is Bread on Airline toward airport or any Chicken Shack for daily lunch specials . At both places the prices won't hurt but you will be full .

For Italian, don't forget Ruffino's on Highland. Coyots Blues, Acadian/I10 for upscale Tex-Mex, Stroube's (steak), Galatoire's off Old Perkins near I10/Highland, Juban's...lot's of good eats in BR.
