If you can recover from the "Great Depression" of 1929 or the "Wall Street Meltdown" of 2008, you can come back from a lockdown. I am sure the scientists who signed the petition would agree that death is irreparable or irreversible.

Also, if the average lifespan in the US is 79 years. And a covid patient dies at 77, that is a loss of 2 years of life. If a 15 year old commits suicice, that is a loss of 64 years of life.
Access to health care is also delayed due to unnecessary covid precautions. You can expect deaths from cancer to rise due to delayed screening. (I am on a list right now and the VA has no idea when I can get in. They are trying to outsource me to the community.)
We are being lied to about covid death numbers. The deaths that have occured are mostly in nursing homes, a population very easy to protect since they rarely go out (unless your governor orders your states nursing homes to accept covid patients in an obvious move to increase covid death rates- Cuomo, Whitmer).
So, the media has told us to value the life of granny over the lives of her grandchildren. Im pretty sure my grandmother would have disagreed w that.
