This is the middle-ground take I share, so that you're clear, berry. That means I am concerned but not pushing rhetoric about the sky falling.

Just to illustrate what happens when inflation heats up, consider the following:

At an annual rate of 1.5%, it would take 47 years for prices in general to double.

At an annual rate of 5.4% (our latest 12-month CPI increase), prices double every 13 years.

Also, the Consumer Price Index and other official inflation yardsticks often tend to understate the actual erosion in our purchasing power. The prices of many assets that are either absent from or under-weighted in the CPI (e.g. stocks, real estate) have surged more steeply than the official inflation rate.

Meanwhile, after the Biden regime burning through $1.9 trillion on the “American recue Plan”, an unnecessary boondoggle with tons of unrelated spending and political payoffs when the pandemic was basically over – which in itself was one of the largest spending plans in US history – now the Biden regime is back at the trough wanting $3.5 trillion in their budget reconciliation boondoggle AND another $1 trillion in a separate infrastructure bill. The $3.5 trillion alone is the size of the entire 2010 federal budget
