As for political affiliation, if my research is accurate, the Senate bill was sponsored by five Republicans and four Democrats, and passed the Senate 31-0. Regardless of party or personal beliefs, no politician is ever going to have the balls to stand up and say to the people of the state, "I think it's perfectly acceptable for your 18-year-old daughters to be strippers."
Yeah, I know about unintended consequences, but that's just the way it is.
And it took effect immediately upon the governor's signing of the bill.
