I don't live in Texas, so don't really have a dog in the hunt. But I presume Abbott signed it, thereby enacting. I would have thought a staunch Republican would have vetoed a Democrat sanctioned bill.....unless they were ALL garnering votes.

Not a single member of the Texas House of Representatives from EITHER party voted against it. You can't blame this one on either the GOP or the DEMS, you have to blame them BOTH.

You can hear Carol A. explain why the bill was changed by her. In short it was a supply and demand argument stating that the increased penalties will reduce the overall supply and demand of prostitution.
