It’s called hyperbole, ffs. Of course you don’t have to actually donate a building, it is exaggeration to make point. A point that is very true in this case. Getting in to a place like Harvard or Stanford is absolutely NOT all about merit, but about who your parents are, what position of power and wealth they hold, and your own politics. Not to mention race. Tons of white and Asian kids are routinely fucked over to make room for blacks who are far less qualified (and more often than not flunk out).

Lots of examples of this if you bothered to look, David Hogg is a good one. A totally average kid who, without the media attention from being a flaming liberal, wouldn’t have gotten a second look before his application was thrown in the round file.
