Getting back to the OP's question of things to do...
Christmas eve you could volunteer to assist with logistics for the big guy.
He has thousands of one day requirements.
Mostly sled reloading with more gifts.
Setting up temporary landing fields needs volunteers also and being able to handle 4 legged critters looks good on a resume.

Op I don’t know what to tell you about Christmas. I personally hate this time of year and simply want it over. Volunteering used to give me peace but I don’t believe in feeding folks for a day.
