jymie, I believe proper protocol is not to contact local mods on this matter, but as people have been directed to in the past was to contact St. C. Perhaps protocol this has changed.

Posted in NOLA

As Big C moves on to greener pastures, it's time for us to start going through the mod applications and to begin our search for our next mod appointee for the vacated areas.

With that in mind, we find it's only fitting that our fantastic community itself have some say regarding who they feel would best represent the forums they frequent.

The ideal candidate is someone who most would consider to be respectable, fair, even-handed, objective, intelligent and rational….someone who uses good judgement and makes good decisions……and this is going to be your chance to tell us who YOU feel would best fill the role. With some good thought put to it, this can be much much more than simply a popularity contest. Let's give it a try and see how it goes..

Here's how this will work-

This thread will remain open for nominations for the next 7 days. If you have thoughts on who would make a good moderator for your area, make a post and nominate them. You can nominate yourself if you want. You can list more than one. If you have a great candidate in mind for NOLA, but a different one for Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, or another of the areas in need, then go ahead and list each of them. It's quite possible that we will appoint a number of mods to fill the different areas so please keep that in mind.

Let's have fun with this, but please try to keep your nominations on the serious side. I'd hate for legitimate nominations to feel disrespected if this became cluttered by a bunch of jokes and wisecracks. Let's avoid that happening if at all possible.

At the end of 7 days, I will create a poll which includes all of your nominations. The poll will be open to anyone and everyone who wishes to have a voice in who should deserve serious consideration as the next ECCIE moderator(s) for the area(s). The poll will last for 7 days and then be closed. From there, the results will be our guide.

Let's get started.

St. C

PS. Please know that there's no guarantee that the nominations will be interested in taking up a staff position, and no guarantee that any particular candidate will be selected. Our goal is to give the community a voice in the selection process and also to provide us some good insight into where the search should begin, from the membership's point of view. Make the best of it, and feel free to PM me with any questions about the nomination thread or the poll.
Hey gang,

Let me help with this.

Nominations are in, and soon the poll will be posted. As stated before, the poll results will certainly have significant meaning when it comes to decision time, but should absolutely not be considered a guarantee as to who may be selected........like someone mentioned before, the final choice is ours to make and these nominations and forthcoming poll are just one aspect of the process.

Regarding the nominations, thank you to those who openly shared your thoughts, feelings, and opinions on the subject. It's been good info so far, from a wide variety of differing perspectives, and I can easily see including this sort of exercise for future staffing choices.

On ECCIE, the guy mods have the city forums and the gal mods have the Powder Room.....so while the female nominations will not be seen in the poll, they have already been collected and will receive serious consideration when it comes to appointing new mods in the girls area which I continue to hear is experiencing phenomenal growth and participation.

Finally, I plan to exclude the nominations which have either publicly or privately declined consideration for the position. I do this with respect to their personal interests and current commitments, as well as considering the community, by not allowing a vote to be spent on someone we are reasonably certain would not accept the role if we chose to pursue them.

There ya have it guys and gals! Give me a little time and I'll get these polls built. I've decided to post 3 polls. One for NOLA nominations, another for Arkansas, and another with Mississippi and Alabama nominations combined. The other locations vacated, such as NC and Tennessee, will either be included within the assignments of whoever is selected, or will be selected separately from the group of names I have collected from that area, or those who have volunteered, etc. I will place links to each poll in all three polls for easy navigation between polls. I have also decided to allow just one selection from each member who chooses to vote in each of the polls....so with that said, please select the nomination that you personally feel is the best choice from the list, using whatever criteria that you feel is most important for the job....and keep in mind that your votes will be kept completely anonymous. Nobody will ever know who you selected or why, unless you decide to tell them.

Enjoy, and get ready to place your votes!

St. C
If I remember correctly, we did something similar the last time, and the only person who was selected that was nominated was Jack. None of the other mods were even discussed publicly. Not that it matters, just an observation.

Absolutely anyone interested could contact St Christopher to let him know of their interest. He has the task of choosing I believe.

Can a mod ban another mod?

Asked with a chuckle under my breathe, but would still love an official answer.

My predictions for the next mods will be Deepthinker and Quail. That is if IMHO they choose wisely (never has happened in the past). The 3rd I have no idea, but I know who I would like to see chosen.
