The title of the thread includes
“When Will Democrats Stop Supporting Men In Women's Sports?”
Do you have any statements by mainstream democrats supporting men in women’s sports? Does the government have any legitimate interest or legal authority to regulate women’s sports?

And another Dem said this" Speaking to The New York Times on Wednesday, Suozzi said: “The Democrats have to stop pandering to the far left. “I don’t want to discriminate against anybody, but I don’t think biological boys should be playing in girls’ sports.
“Democrats aren’t saying that, and they should be.”

Despite the insulting tone and the incomplete response to the questions the answers accurately frame the issue.
First of all In December 2024, NCAA President Charlie Baker testified before a congressional hearing, stating that he knew of fewer than 10 transgender student-athletes among the 510,000 athletes competing at the collegiate level. Or .01 percent.
Yet this issue receives an overwhelming amount of attention from republican politicians and right wing media. This includes multiple rounds of legislation banning transgender athletes from competing as their gender identity rather than their gender at birth. This legislation amends Title IX which only applies to programs receiving federal funding.
One could argue that this outsized attention has either changed public opinion or more likely revealed the public’s true opinion because politics forced them to confront the issue. It’s certainly not because it’s an issue of any real magnitude.

The Pew Research Center reports:
Americans have grown more supportive of restrictions for trans people in recent years
A new Pew Research Center survey finds that majorities of U.S. adults favor or strongly favor laws and policies that:
. Require trans athletes to compete on teams that match their sex assigned at birth (66%)
. Ban health care professionals from providing care related to gender transitions for minors (56%)
But at the same time, 56% of adults express support for policies aimed at protecting trans people from discrimination in jobs, housing and public spaces.
Democrats have realized that this is a losing issue. Sooner or later Republicans are going to have to stop flapping their gums about this nonsense because that’s what it really is.
