prices increasing due to Trump tariffs

Now for reality. Inflation went up 0.3% in June. A rounding error. That 2.7% number is yearly. In other words, less than HALF of Biden's rate, when these same people were saying there wasn't any problem with inflation. Originally Posted by Lantern2814

Under the Biden administration prices and inflation were falling. There were interest rate cuts.

Now with the Trump administration there is no longer a chance for interest rate cuts.

That is the reality.
Trump doesn't care about reality. Here's some reminders:

“Starting on day one, we will end inflation and make America affordable again, to bring down the prices of all goods.”

NBC Montana, Trump Rally in Bozeman, MT, YouTube (August 9, 2024).

8/14/24
“Under my administration, we will be slashing energy and electricity prices by half within 12 months, at a maximum 18 months”

“Prices will come down. You just watch: They’ll come down, and they’ll come down fast, not only with insurance, with everything.”

PBS NewsHour, Trump Rally in North Carolina, YouTube (August 14, 2024).

8/17/24
“Starting the day I take the oath of office, I will rapidly drive prices down and we will make America affordable again. We’re going to make it affordable again.”

“We’re going to get your energy prices down. We’re going to get your energy prices down by 50%.”

PBS NewsHour, Trump speaks at campaign rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, YouTube (August 17, 2024). Originally Posted by DayOfTheEagle

The one thing I will say though is that it is ridiculous to try to read anything into short term gas prices. They are as fickle and unstable as Trump's tariff policies. They could easily fluctuate 10 percent by the time you read this. See you in the morning!

Hit a high of $3.57 under biden, now averaging $2.18 under trump, and was fairly stable around $2 bucks under Trumps first term. Am i reading it wrong? I don't live where i need heating oils, and my electricity costs over the last 10 years have stayed fairly stable with an open market.
So you’re basing nationwide costs on your own. Good move. Most of the rest of us have heating and cooling costs which are higher overall. Though they do fluctuate as do all energy costs.

I like the “hit a high” vs average cost. Again, nice move.

Only 1 item has been picked out as having lower prices, while measurements are taken on a broad group of items.

If you want to just pick out an item, this can make it easy for you........what are prices for cars doing ?

... Let us know WHEN they raise their prices.

So the American people can thus decide WHERE they want
to spend their money. ... Either the company can decide to
"eat" whatever tariff "cost" there may be - or take the risk of
passing along the "cost" to the consumer and having them turn-away.

See? ... The true meaning of Free Enterprise! ... ..

I guess the Democrat’s constant battling against ANYTHING Trump is paying off.

I can hand pick a remote town in Alaska who's cost is up 600% since Trump took office. Does that mean it's up 600% everywhere?
Read my post. I never based anything on my anecdotal experience. But nice try.

And the little people are hurting more due to fiscally incompetant conservative spending.

Glad you live in a tiny sheltered community that doesn't have to experience the hardships the rest of this country is.
