Pacific on HBO

Yes I saw it, they had some combat but it seemed to focus way too much on Leckie.
They got more into the whole mental aspect of the pacific theeatre last noght and the island warfare.
One reason may be because he wrote one of the books its based on, as well as Sledge the guy in boot camp

I would say its not as good as BoB, but its still interesting. I think its like the Thin red line compared to Saving Private Ryan.

But I am not disliking "The Pacific," but I did find last night's episode a bit weak.

Yeah, it was better tonight. Seemed to have picked up the pace. It looks like they are rotating characters in and out. Also, the last five episodes will cover the last year in the Pacific.

I am wondering how they are going to fit the rest of the Pacific campaign in the last three episodes.

I guess we will see iwo jima only after this, like only 3 big battles in pacific war based of this.

If you go to ww2 memorial in DC, you realize this needs to be a 30- 40 part series

I liked that scene where they took care of that troubled marine who was having nightmares!!

lecky was in all except okiwanana, sledge was in pelili and okiwanana.

So Okiwanana is the last island they will cover in the series after Peliliu.
Not too sure if Iwo Jima was squuzed in there, just the 1st marines did not got here I think.

I read Sledges book the old breed, amazing

Also what a fucken waste of men was pelilu, the Island could beenpassed. Just Mcarthur was a prick and wanted them to take it so he did not have to worry about his right flank onthe way to phiilipines

Episode 7 blew me away, BOB did not even go where they been going since they hit peliliu. episode 5, 6,7 are intense.

looks like episode 8 is okiwanana

Sorry 8 was iwo jima, at least the last 15 minutes. 98% of 8 was Joe Basilone. Episode 8 was not even in Sledges book.
Either way at least they covered Iwo Jima, and last 15 minutes was intense

The wiki entry has an episode list... if you are interested and don't consider that a spoiler. It was a good episode.

I guess I'm trying to compare this to Band of Brothers and it's falling short. It's not that i don't like it, i just find my self spending most of the time trying to figure out who's who. BOB was much easier to follow.
It sucks; liberal elite Hollywood spin on the war in the Pacific.
