I find it ironic that some think it is justifiable for health insurance to cover ED drugs (because it is a "medical condition" unique to males) and not to cover female contraceptives (even though there is a "medical condition" unique to females, i.e., the vulnerability to become impregnated).

Big Pharma pocketed $5 billion from ED drugs in 2011, however they no doubt pocketed far more from drugs needed for pregnancies and medical procedures needed, that might not have been spent had contraceptives been used.

Big Pharma may view contraceptives as limiting their profits and now use religious groups as their unwitting 'tools' to fatten their bottom lines.....lol

That's your comparison. Here's mine. Let's suppose your wife finds it too painful to have sex without a certain medication. Should she be entitled to that medication as part of her health care plan?

Pregnancy is a 9 month medical condition that many women may want to avoid, for obvious reasons. If you were as susceptible to a 9 month flu bug as women were to getting pregnant, and if there existed a pretty sure fire vaccine which would prevent you from coming down with that flu bug, would you have a problem with the idea of insurance companies supplying it?

His comments may have been directed at Miss Fluke, but were a sad commentary about how our society has become a gimme gimme gimme state.

The bulk of her opening statement was health related. A good portion of the outrage over the Bishops making a big deal out of this is health related, though admittedly, not entirely. Nevertheless, just how hypocritical does one have to be to demand that ladies go to clinics for birth control if they can't afford it, while at the same time demanding that we de-fund clinics such as Planned Parenthood? And to only add to the hypocrisy, they are the same people, mind you, that are the loudest to bitch about people having too many kids on the public dole.

I heard the context and the media portrayed it leaving out the total story which makes it biased reporting on their part because they know the truth but have an agenda to slant stories. Not to become ALL political on here but the biggest problem this nation faces today is the biased news media. This is a perfect example on what they do.

So no matter what additional context you or Rush Limbaugh may think the media had a duty to present regarding his comments, the fact is, they had none. What is news is that the leading voice of the Republican party used a made-up sexual history (meaning, he lied about her) to refer to someone as a slut. That's all we need to know because, no matter what larger point he may want to convince the gullible that he was making, he could have made it without calling someone a slut. Ergo, what he was truly interested in was calling someone a slut.

No one is denied access to contraception pills in this country.

And can i assume this echoes your sentiment during the whole "death panel" nonsense? You were outraged over the false suggestion that death panels existed in Obamacare, were you not? Didn't think so. Because, using your argument, even if death panels did exist, nothing in Obamacare would deny anyone treatment. If someone wanted to pay for whatever care they wanted or needed, not even the loudest screamer over death panels claimed Obamacare denied them the ability to pay for it themselves. And like you say, if we're going to rid ourselves of a gimme gimme gimme society, having death panels would be the way to go, would it not? Of course it would.

If you need them, go buy them.

Where to start with all your well thought out comments. It's not with Big Oil JB but that monkey idea has potential. Having never listened to the Rush Limbaugh show puts you at a big disadvantage to those of us that do. One thing he does and admits to is looking at something absurd and making absurd reactions and points on his radio show. But that was not what she was brought there to do. Her intent was to make this about Republicans hatred towards women in the public’s eye to gain women’s votes in the upcoming election and to advance the socialists idea of the government dictating and regulating how our society is run. I am not a big conspiracy theory guy but one thing I have learned over the past several years is there is no one in government that can be trusted and none has the Americans’ back. Point being look at our national debt. 15 going on 16 trillion dollars. And the President’s budget for the current year adds 1.4 trillion more? With no scaling back of entitlement programs which are out of touch with reality. Every time our president talks he wants to provide more and more with no consequences to the future of this great nation. And this contraception plan is just the latest.

As far as your comments on being hypocritical of funding programs with taxpayer dollars that provide contraception for free, I am totally in favor of helping the needy in our society in whatever way possible. I donate clothing, help in soup kitchens and provide support when and where I can. But what I cannot do is help the helpless. Sometimes it may be a fine line but when you go in front of congress after attending Cornell for 4 years and are in a $50,000/year law school asking for that Jesuit college to pay premiums for your birth control is absurd to me as well as it was to Rush. And I think if people looked at it outside the political ring, would agree. You buy a $400,000 house and complain you can’t afford the taxes when you knew what they were when you bought it. ABSURD You buy a $75,000 Lexus and say you can’t afford $4.00/gallon gas. ABSURD You buy a $500,000 vacation home in Florida and complain that airfares are too much. ABSURD

And they should not have to. Nor should any heath care company. If a employer wants it in the care they give out fine. If they do not fine again. I say that if religious or not. A church based hospital or school should not be made to give that to employees or client/student. And that goes for any other company also.
