ID Check during Hotel Check-In

I used to travel every week for work over several years in multiple states. All hotels were 3 stars or above and many hotels were a 2nd or 3rd home for me. It was rare that I didn't have to show ID.
When booking a hotel close to home for hobby use, many places will not allow you to book a room if its too close to your home address without a really good explanation such as plumbing problems.

It's none of the hotels dang business why you're checking in if you live close by. Your place could be tented, or just painted or maybe you got in a fight with your SO and wanted some space.

S-man - I am a member of Marriott's loyalty program. The funny thing is it was a Marriott that ID checked me. I've never been checked by the other chains.

Maybe I didn't tip the staff well enough on my last visit.

give them the id and tell them not to disturb u as u fixing to beat some good ole pussy up like never before. they will understand and leave u alone.

i travel often and get the id asked mostly for verification of credit card. they could care less who the hotel name is listed under. for instance, if u book online, it can be booked in anyones name. but when it comes time for paying, they will want to see id.
Hahaha, I would like to see that look, lol. Originally Posted by acp5762

If your on a RL business trip. Why would showing your ID to the hotel clerk be an issue? It's not like your renting the room by the hour, for RL business.

Unless one has something to hide. Showing an ID at check in, to prove you are said person who booked said room shouldn't be an issue. Regardless if your going to *play* while in said hotel.

I'm currently on a RL business trip and had something happen for the first time. The desk clerk asked to see my driver's license when I registered. I showed it to him of course, but it seems it would make registering under an assumed name a lot harder. Is this ever an issue for anyone from a hobby perspective?

Maybe I need to get a "Hobby License" and keep it with my Hobby Phone. Originally Posted by Bigh1955
