What Would It Take For You To Fight For Your Liberty?

Never forget, Jeremiah Wright served in the Marine Corp. Nidal Malik Hasan was also in the military. Military service is noble and honorable, but by itself, it does not prove patiotism or loyalty to the country. Lincoln was never in the military. John Kerry and Al Gore both served; both would burn the Constitution if they could. Originally Posted by joe bloe

I actually think the state of affairs is very close to the tipping point today. Just a few more sparks ignited by Obama and his (continued) destruction of America. ; and good citizens will give up the ballot for bullets. Originally Posted by Whirlaway

To get back on subject the only reason to justify force against the government is if the government suspends or subverts the electoral process. I hate Obama's policies and hope like hell he loses the election but he is there because he persuaded people to vote for him. The population has the right to make stupid decisions. The only legitimate defense to that is to persuade the people there is a better alternative to vote for in the next election.

Apparently, Munchie served our country to make sure that anyone who disagrees with him is branded a traitor. Which Constitution were you defending, Munchie. It wasn't the US Constitution if that's what you think.

You may have defended it. I suggest you read it.

A lot has been written while I was away that last 24 hours. I have to argue with the initial question. I have also asked this question and I ask it a couple of different ways; when are you willing to put up resistance to an oppressive government, when are you willing to kill to fight an oppressive government, and when are you willing to die opposing an oppressive government?

You might be the type to argue with an out of control state trooper on the side of the road at 4 AM but are you willing use violence? Even if you're right, you will still probably be wrong and alone. Do you the courage of your convictions to go to prison or to be cast as the bad guy? Can you be the first?

I have always said that it will not be a big thing that gets things rolling it will be something small that will grow. I guess for most of us it will take a declaration of hostilities of a sort. We are not probably going to be the first to do something rash unless we can look to others for guidance. Unfortunately we have a history in the US of doing rash things; John Brown at Harper's Ferry, Alexander Burr, South Carolina, Texas, Charles Manson, Timothy McVeigh, etc. Sometimes you're right but most of the time you're wrong.

JD, many here are defending the loss the liberty. They won't lift a finger, even to vote against the loss of liberty. In fact, many of them are voting for more and more government control over their lives. It is unbelievable.

The question wasn't about being stopped by a trooper, it was about the institutional attacks on our freedom, from our health care to the size of soda we should be allowed to order. When is enough, enough?
