WTF is trying to rewrite history again! We (the GOP/conservatives) have always wanted all the ballots counted according to the rules. In 2000 they (Gore & DLPS) only wanted to count some of the ballots in three counties, not all of the ballots. They also did not want to count the absentee ballots in Indian County. Even after the recount, they wanted to count them again with a new standard that they thought favored their guy. The law said that an automatic recount had to be done. It was and Gore lost. The law allowed for Gore to pay for a recount, he got it and he lost again. The law said that the Secretary of State had to call the election after 10 days. They wouldn't let her!!! The US Supreme Court had to ponder the question did a state have to abide by their own laws when an election was on the line. The Supremes said that the election had to be called. GORE LOST AGAIN!!!!

Today, West can't get a complete recount. It is his right to call for it but he is being denied. The absentee ballot have to be counted but the voters are being denied. The one county has apparently ran out the clock by delaying until the SOS had to call the election. The election board, the judge that made the ruling, and the woman in charge of the committee are all democrats. You can't smell the racism and hypocrisy? You have a head cold or something?

After a Recount, Allen West Loses Even Harder

Allan West demanded a recount after the initial results showed him losing his Florida congressional seat to Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy, but the recount did the opposite of what West wished. It made the distance between Murphy and West even wider.
The last time we checked in with West he was crying foul and demanding a recount because, he suspected, one of the counties seemed suspicious. His campaign manager suspected some votes in St. Lucie, a county Murphy dominated, were counted twice. The unofficial results put Murphy with a 2,442 vote lead over West, but West's campaign had until November 20 to ask for a recount or look into any wrong doing. On November 20, the results would become official. So, they recounted the votes from St. Lucie county and Murphy still won. He actually gained 242 votes. Murphy's campaign managers declared victory (again) while West's campaign managers were left twiddling their thumbs wondering what to do next. "We are still evaluating how to handle this," West campaign manager Tim Edson said. "It's a unique case."

All in all, the state of Florida should be towed out to sea and sunk in a deep part of the Atlantic.

You would think they would have learned their lesson after Bush vs. Gore. No, they fucked up another election.

Can't they figure out a simple, reliable voting system and stick with it, like the other 49 states?

Look Gore lost. I just point out why he lost. Without Pat getting votes meant for Gore, there would have been no "My Pet Goat".

Research what Pat has to say about it. It is a fact but Bush won according to the rules at the time. I had no problem with it. They have better ballots now because of it, even if you have to stand in line for six hours to vote. Is Fl not the most fuc'd up state to vote in? I voted in ten minutes with no wait at all.

Well if you want to bring up Pat Buchanan then I want to bring up that the media called the election for Gore when the panhandle with thousands of military votes hadn't voted yet. We know that pollsters found that many people didn't vote because the election was already over. If the media had kept it's promise and waited thousands of more Bush votes would have been cast and there not have been a recount in the first place.

I voted in Florida for a couple of years. It was the infamous punch card. I got into an argument with a friend of mine (Clinton supporter) who wanted to know what kind of idiot checks the back of the ballot for chads. He walked away when I told him that I did. We have not spoken since then.

I make this separate because this is serious. As a conservative I believe in playing by the rules. Of course I want to win but I can accept a loss if all the rules are followed and the players all played fairly. The parties run our elections but the people should take them back. We can get involved, join parties and organizations running things. We can force the candidates to participate in debates on our terms. We can force every state in the country to adhere to a universal standard of casting and counting. We can even affect election money by requiring every donation over $25 to be recorded and made public BEFORE an election. Anonymus donations must be returned and penalities have to be accessed BEFORE elections so a party cannot benefit by cheating only to have their wrist smacked after winning the office.
I am not saying that this is easy. In fact, it is very hard but not impossible. Some of you (even the libs) would probably support fair elections even is their guy losses. I'm talking to you. The rest of you who would take a tainted win just because, you're not worth talking to. Get involved and stay true to your ideals. Don't except the myth that "they all do it". This would even work to the advantage of Libertarians.

If West wants for this to continue, he has until 11.20.12 to try a couple of other maneuvers. If this county is all that's uncounted, the Gov. Scott and the Florida Sec of State have the resources to get however many people they need to get in there and count.

This is not hard.
JD Barleycorn's Avatar
Is that an admission that West has the right to a fair count and that he has not recieved it yet?

Pat Buchanan himself has admitted that most of his votes in Palm Beach County were meant for Al Gore, saying he "did not campaign and bought no advertising there" (Nichols, 2001, p. 86). He added, "I would say 95 to 98 percent of [the votes] were for Gore" (id. at p. 89). The day after the election, many people were upset, saying the butterfly ballot was confusing. When the election results were "too close to call," Buchanan worried he would be charged with costing Gore the election. He said he got more media coverage after the election than he did during the campaign (id. at p. 84). The graph to the left showing an abnormally high Buchanan vote in Palm Beach County suggests the butterfly ballot cost Al Gore thousands of votes, more than enough to have won the presidency.

and there is evidence that thousands of vote never got cast for Bush because they thought the election was already lost.
