Looks like youve gotten good advice and heeded it. Its not impossible to get rooms this time of year, but for mardi gras its best to book rooms waaaaayyyyyyyyy in advance. Given all the other reasons and that youve never been, I think you made the educated choice. There's a parade Sat. Night Feb 2nd. Also on the 8th, 9th, 11th and 12th. There's an iPhone app for that. Just search Lafayette Mardi Gras.

I can't wait. It should be crazy fun. It's nice living a block from the parade route. If you need a place to park, let me know.
