DoG makes a couple of good points and, Ariel, many will appreciate you trying to put together something fun and give some folks an opportunity to meet. Both ends of this have win/win possibilities.
What may get left out of this is that the primary risk doesn't involve LE but, rather others involved on both sides of the hobby who may not be operating with everyone's safety and anonymity in mind. This is why screening is of the utmost importance and Ariel, keep in mind that some of your provider friends may not be your friends at some future point. We who have been around for several years have heard and seen lots of situations where BFFs have become FUFs (fuck you forever's). Using other providers who will be attending vouching for invitees is not a bad plan, just be aware that only one "verification" isn't the world's greatest plan. Please be very careful that you temper your desire to have these parties and have them be well known enough for them to be "must see TV" with a cold, calculating eye on safety. Otherwise, there may be some version of the hated "white van across the street" in your future.

I really didn't think that receiving an invitation to a party would be considered a negative thing but what do I know. I'm only 4 months old in the hobby world. :-) Originally Posted by Ariel Amour

Just own up to it: you wanted to throw a "hobby party" where you and your friends could make some money. You sent out a bunch of invitations to whoever "looked OK" or that had a review count. In concept, that's OK , except that we don't allow the PM system to be used that way. Lesson learned.
It's OK to be wrong about using the system. But lying about your method of invitation just looks worse. Originally Posted by Duke of G
