Love scotch? What are you drinking these days?

I have a bottle of Macallan - 10 yo that was given to me in 1986. (matured in sherry wood) Never opened.

It's still a 10 year old scotch. It doesn't get any better in bottle. An old bottle can be worth more if it's rare and desirable, meaning it was a really good scotch and you can't get it anymore (no supply.) The bottle you have is probably not worth much unless a collector wants it for some reason.

Edit: To give you an example, the 1972 Caperdonich 38yo was limited to 70 bottles. I was able to buy 4 of them, drank one, gave one away and have two saved. Those may go up in value over time since the Caperdonich distillery no longer exists (it's been demolished after bankruptcy.) Though I'll probably drink em any way . MacAllan most likely bottled an insane amount of 10yo scotch in 1986, like they do with their 12s, 18s, etc... MacAllan is a solid scotch, but it is a mass market product.

Glenlivet 12, the working mans Scotch. Although I prefer single malts I'm not adverse to drinking blended either. I've had my share of J&B. My pallet is not so refined nor my pockets so deep that I can be to choosey. I also enjoy a good sipping Tequila like Don Felipe El Tesoro Anejo but again...not to choosey.

Scotch that I enjoy right now, Oban or MacAllan 18 on ice.

It's blended but I drink it because I like it. Ok, I like the ceramic bottle and the big cork too.

I know this is an aging thread, but if I found a lady who enjoyed Balvenie and Balcones with me, I'd get into serious serious trouble.

Anyone tried Balcones Brimstone? Yeeouch but I love it.

A lot of great whiskys have been spoken of in this thread (Don't go to Scotland and ask for Scots, LOL!)

At the moment, Clynelish 14 YO from the Highlands is doing me quite well. I am also intrigued by my old stand-by, Glenfiddich, a Speyside whisky.

Highlands or Speyside do agree with my palate more than others.

As for Isle of Islay, a little too much like drinking Chloraseptic in my book.

But, we each have our own opinions and I am always welcome to them.

And then there's Aberlour A'bundah...my new atf scotch. My personal favorite was batch 39, but it's hard to find these days. The 120 proof unfiltered brew reports quickly and with distinction, reminding the lucky soul drinking it that a sherry cask gave it's all in the making. I just discovered the Balvenie 17-year-old peaked cask malt. Damned fine drink!

I'm not a big scotch drinker....but this reminded me of Will Ferell as Ron Burgundy :-)
