Shopping list for Incall...men's input needed

A nice valet for men to keep their coat, shoes and things on might be nice.

Congratulations, Marie! I know setting up my incall was tons of fun, let me show my decorative style, gave me added stabilityand trust as an erotic destination "resort," haha, but it was expensive and a lot of work. Several of my regular friends did bring me lovely and practical gifts like a vacuum, bar set, coffee pot, microwave, etc. Gift cards from quality stores (for instance, Bed, Bath, & Beyond= yes, Wal*Mart= not so much) for other domestic goods were very helpful, hint, hint, guys. A house warming ("hotting" in your case) might be indeed be called for, and do let the gentlemen stock the bar for you. However, you might invest in a a few bottles of red and white wine to start off with. (World Market has a reasonable selection, plus beers from around the World.) Best, least costly, most versatile drinks to have on hand for consumption by themselves or with alcohol: Coke, Diet Coke or Coke Zero (my fav), Sprite or Ginger Ale. I have cocktail mixers that sit around unused, as most fellows keep it simple. Having a few individual serving energy and/or sports drinks around might be a good idea. (Fellows may need some replenishment after time with you, girlfriend.) Remember ice cube trays if you don't have an automatic in the fridge. Munchies are a nice touch, but fellows will be more interested in snacking on YOU than a bowl of Chex Mix. (I used to offer Martha Stewart-like snack trays but ended up wasting a lot of food, so now I usually ask first if someone has a refreshment they prefer, particularly if the gent will be visiting me around lunch or dinner.)

For those fellows who can't go home smelling like anything "telltale," have some fragrance-free soap and shampoo on hand, and LOTS of washcloths. Have a small basket in the bathroom for them to drop their used linens in rather than just tossing them on the floor to trip over. Also, disposable combs for after they get out of the shower. Not that many fellows carry them anymore. Disposable razors and shave cream for the comfort of YOUR skin if they come over with Barney Rubble stubble. By the way, the "Dollar Tree" is your friend for cheap toiletries and cleansers, often the same brand names you pay a lot more for at Wally World and/or the grocery store, and SPRAY deodorant usually is best as no guy wants to run the same stick under his arms that the guy before him used. Those little disposable paper cups are thoughtful for mouthwash, and a lint roller is often appreciated. (At least for my friends who don't want to explain that strand of red hair stuck on their coats.)

Clorox or Lysol all-purpose wipes work for both quick, effective kitchen and bathroom clean-up.

Craigslist may have been the worst place in the cosmos to look for companionship, but it was GREAT for good used furnishings at a fraction of what you'll pay new. You'll have to be careful and observant and don't be afraid to dicker. You should see the furniture at my place. I even bought my bar and my antique iron Medieval 4-poster bed off Craig's.

Happy hosting, hon!

All great ideas everyone! I have most things now...

I love the valet idea, need to stock mixers and wine...and of course the bar. Also fragrance free stuff, disposable combs, razors, and shave gel. Didn't get aerosol deodorant cause I figured axe would be good enough (???).

All the furniture is purchased and being delivered on Monday. It is not new but in fantastic condition. It's from Cort rental furniture which packages their previously rented stuff into super-affordable whole apartment packages.

First place I went today was the dollar tree. Then big lots. Yesterday was sam's club, target, & Marshall's.

How would a lady go about putting together a successful house-warming party? Would it be wise to do at an apartment complex? Or for gents and other ladies to know my location so openly? Seems a bit risky. Perhaps it will be a house-warming first couple of weeks...more ideas needed...

It's so exciting!

Your concerns, YM, are pretty much why I never had a "formal" incall introduction party, plus many of my gentlemen friends are not members of ECCIE and aren't looking to be social with other people, just me. I advertised my new place and let gentlemen callers bring me what they wished.

I adore Ross. That's where I got my 8 sets of fancy high heels sheets. Gift certificates to that store and Spec's always appreciated. Most of my decor came from Renaissance festivals or online sources, or my private collection of "neat stuff." I love having a reason to play decorator and hostess.
