I think Alyssa advice about getting a trainer that its a real trainer not any wannabe and sticking to it will work but also reducing the carb intakes, and of course more proteins, but I read that may make you sleepy, but I really can volunteer to help with the proteins, you have been in my list forever
Well for back problems a trained professional might be best.

A lot of good suggestions mentioned in here. I would "interview" any trainer you consider, especially if you have concerns about your back history. Many trainers don't have the proper background or medical awareness to address that issue.

I know a guy who's a physical therapist by day and traveling personal trainer in his free time with a few clients after rehab is complete. You might consider an environment like that.

I was a personal trainer at Bally's back in the day so I will give some good advice .
You must take in a fair amount of water to process the protein intake but make vegetables the main course and meat the side dish . NO CHEESY POOFS
Have your cheat day for whatever you want to eat except CHEESY POOFS !!!

If you have back injuries you really should get a personal trainer who is certified and don't let him tell you he is certified have him show his certificates . LOT OF FAKERS OUT THERE .
Spending the money on a trainer is better than an expensive trip to th Hospital .

I would suggest listening to Alyssa. Don't know anyone more interested in health and fitness (and her body) than her. She knows her shyte. Lol

You've got a great attitude Allison! Make a lifestyle change as has been suggested and be patient. You don't need surgery- that's a last resort. You'll be fine (literally). ;-)

Everyone is going to have different advice however just stick to the basics which are low carb and exercise. you'll be ok. personally, I don't like diets and I like to eat everything, this is the reason I jog everyday.

Since at it...2 more tips:

I believe a very important element when it comes a lifestyle change driven by nutrition and(or) sport is: P E R S E V E R A N C E

A couple of nutrition tweaks (example cut 80% carbs & cut 80% fats/alcohol) and 1 hour exercise 3 times a week for 1 year, would be more sustainable and give you better results than 30 days of starvation while working-out 7 days a week...and end up concluding that life is too short to top it with self torture.

When it comes to a trainer...find yourself a mature trainer. A trainer looking like an athlete at age 27 is a given, but looking like an athlete a age 50 will be more inspiring and compelling....devil knows more because of his age and not for being the devil.
