The glory days of the HDH are over.

I don't consider myself "less experienced" in the hobby, but neither do I negotiate. So, sometimes, I have felt I have paid more of a fee than I should have...but that's entirely on me.

PJ I love the chart, it all makes perfect sense now

This is just my perception: a SB is a LT relationship which is primarily sexual in nature, where the (usually older) man "keeps" the (usually younger) gal. Puts her up in an apt., pays her bills, gives her an allowance, etc.

OTOH, a mistress is a lady that a guy has on the side that is more like a SO. Normally, the guy has a wife or SO, but in addition, has this lady, too. They tend to have a close personal relationship, and enjoy one another's company on many levels, including sexual.

Just my humble def.

Thats a pretty workable definition. I think SB's tend to be more short-term in nature and more "transactional" than a mistresses -- and generally cheaper financially. Many of the SB's you find on the various websites (seekingarrangements, sugardaddie, ashleymadison, etc.) are in fact amateur escorts -- some less amateur than others and will have multiple "daddies" (the reverse is also true). Mistresses are almost always one for one.

There are multiple dimension to this subject. As shown in the diagram, there is a variation in cost (from low at top to high at bottom) and a variation in involvement (from left to right). In my experience, few ladies fit squarely in any one category, exhibiting properties of each. It has also been my experience that most gentlemen (myself included) sample all along these continuum. I would define an HDH this way.

Any provider whose minimum charge for a first booking meets or exceeds 90% of the weekly take-home pay of the median male wage earner older than 25.

That number is $502.68.

So let's round to $500.

If a provider's minimum charge for a first booking is $500 or more, then she is a HDH.

Obviously, there are degrees of this.

Tax the rich schemes often target the top 5% of earners; a number that starts at just $154k. Obviously, a guy earning $160k and Bill Gates are both in the top 5% but quite a ways apart. So a lady charging $500 and $5000 are both HDHs, though there is a vast difference in price.

I predict due to various market trends I won't get into now that while we will always have HDHs, the proportion of the market that will purchase their services will continue to decline.
It depends on whether you think that HDH means higher priced or higher end. It has been argued time and time again that the two are not mutually inclusive.

If you look at the history of call girls you will find that despite what is happening with the economy there has always been companionship/sex offered for sale at various price levels made to fit different needs.I hope that does not change, but with the economy being so iffy these days it is a good reminder to all of us to continue saving our money for possibly unstable times.

Ofcourse if things go bad me , and Ed will simply move to our deserted island to dine on Squirrels who wear party hats.

I think an HDH is a little more than just a price point.

First of all, I although I might be able to go along with you on the $500/hr figure, I would go a little farther. Most HDHs, IMHO, either encourage or demand multi-hour sessions, especially with first-timers. So, a first timer is looking at a minimum of $1K for the date. In addition, if you want an outcall, the lady's charge for an outcall is well above the norm. Where the local norm is around .5, her norm will be $ or $.5 for an outcall, added onto the donation.

Also, some ladies do it a little different: they have a minimum time for an outcall, and then add on an outcall fee. The donation starts racking up after a while, and instead of feeling like a regular date, it starts feeling like there are upcharges at every step.

Finally, the other thing I've noticed is that HDHs on their websites (which they tend to have in addition to P411, etc) give names to their dates with a description after each one. The minimum will be like the "Cocktail" date. It's generally described as 2 hours of time, meet for drinks then (I assume) an hour BCD. The next is the "Dinner Date" which is like 3 hours. The next is the "Relaxing Date" which normally is Dinner/Theatre w/ some BCD time. They generally go on to describe the "Overnight" and the "Weekend." but by that time, I've generally quit reading. LOL

Since I've never engaged an HDH, I'm only guessing, but in each one of these categories, I'm assuming the BCD time is still around 1 hr (maybe a bit more). So, on the 3 hour date, you spend 2 hours having drinks and dinner and 1 hr, more or less, BCD.

The websites for these HDHs tend to be very professionally done. They are not the standard cookie-cutter websites most providers have (which I enjoy, BTW). They have a totally different look and feel to them, with slick artwork with watermarks, etc. The pics are always very well and professionally done.

To be an HDH, a lady doesn't have to hit all these descriptions, but most will hit the majority.

IMHO.
