It's a ridiculous argument. Guns, Hammers, Drunk Drivers, the one thing they all seem to have in common is there is some jackass who's in control of the outcoming action. But that's not the problem... right?

It sure seems like n exercise in futility to argue with with those who still believe that the founding fathers wouldn't cringe if they looked into the future and saw the type of killing machines man has come up with. And let's not discount the recent statistic that cell phones are 6 to 8 times more dangerous than drunk drivers. With a society that appears numb to violence, is it any wonder that individuals find it easy to say guns aren't the problem. I'm not sure when the last gun murder came from pistol whipping, but I believe that it doesn't make the top .00001% of deaths. Come on people, what happened to rational thought? The kid didn't walk into the elementary school with a one shot musket.

And if the general population should ever rise up against the government as in the revolutionary days they will not be coming to quell the rebellion with muskets and cannons. Instead they will send highly trained and desensitized soldiers bearing legitimate assault weapons to quiet the revolt.

This nation needs to separate into two countries because the political divide is much too profound. The left and right will never agree and rather than having half of a nation always dissatisfied why not just split?
