I think it's been successfully argued that the repeal of the Glass Steagal act precipitated the growth of the big banks and the bad acts that followed. Did the lending practices contribute. Here's a reality check for you, White people didn't invent slavery. While this is not in any way meant to condone what happened to Black Africans, Africans held other Africans as slaves and Africans sold other Africans to slave traders. That's part of "the truth" that is often missing from the discussion. Every race on earth at one time or another, engaged in slavery.
