Anyone watch HBO True Detective?

Mmm hmmmmm... Oh, uh, I mean, Amen!

Can't take credit for this as I know I certainly didn't notice it, but wanted to share. While we wait for this great show to come back from its break, something to ponder:

Look familiar? It's a basic enough pattern, so it could just be as simple as it seems: a child's doodling. But with this show, I'd wager it's at the very least some symbolism for something else; may not necessarily mean that Hart knows something more (he just doesn't seem the Dr. Evil type). One theory I read is that given Tuttle's connections with the school system, perhaps Hart's daughters are attending such a school and that's where the idea to draw it came from.
Ooooh! I think we got some true detectives right up in here, c'mon!

Holy Guacamole Magic....
I didn't notice that either as that particular scene when Marty came home was filled with a lot of tension and I think all of us were waiting to see how Marty was going to react. But that's for damn sure some kind of symbolism. They go to a lot of detail building those sets and that just would not slip in....pretty heavy...deep and dark.

That brings to mind the issue about his daughters when they were playing with dolls and had set up something like a rape scene as he called them to dinner, along with the older one getting in trouble for those drawings. Normally, that would just be innocent children coming of age....but there's not much innocence in this story.

And yes ThatHotNurse, you can get an Amen on that. That game was so bad that even the rabid Seattle fans that were at the party I attended got bored and stopped cheering after a while. Only Reggie LeDoux likes to see people get tortured.
Episode 4!!! Woot woot!!!

Wow. That episode picked up speed and ended on an accelerated note.
I'm still digesting it. Funny how Russ and Marty have almost switched roles.
Marty wants to talk and Russ doesn't want to waste time or energy with that.
Much less that they are now roomates...lol.
Russ is one mysterious human being. He's flat out dangerous. He doesn't bark, but goddamn he bites.
Ya shit changed quick. Crazy.

Speaking of crazy: I hope all you married guys appreciate the fact that you go pro after Marty came home to find out that Miss Crazy Tits paid his SO a 'friendly' visit.

I can't tell you how many times i've heard "I don't have to pay for it". "Oh really?" I say with a sly little grin and half-nod....Next time i will simply direct them episode 4! Lmao!

This is perfect opportunity to point out that SMART men who VALUE what they have at home see ladies who are aware of their limited purpose in his life and don't confuse it or make a sick game of it.

The stupid men, who are hung up on the power of their perceived desirability are the ones who end up in the dog house. The smart men who know the risk of civvie psychos (precisely because of their desirability) go to the 'other' house. Lol

The lady at the hillbilly bunny ranch told Marty - It's because you don't own it like you thought you did.
Just backing up your point nurse.
Preach it! So true!!!

Pretty powerful scene between Maggie and Rust. While we can appreciate Cohle's attempts there, the rationalization isn't one I would buy. That said, it's the personal interactions such as this that have me hooked. What a great program.

Yeah, that didn't work out so well. I guess Rusty was trying to do a favor for Marty and one for himself (to clear Marty's head), but Maggie was not very open to Russ's philosophy.
Didn't seem like Rust liked being insulted.
Did you see that look he gave her?
Of course, most people get a lot worse than a hard look from him if they say the wrong thing.

I knew the shit was about to hit the fan when Rusty fell back into this old criminal tweaker persona. He was hitting the coke/crank pretty hard. I'll have to go back and watch again, but that chaotic scene where he was dragging that biker through those various and sundry fire fights looks to have been one continuous cinema verite shot. I bet it took a few attempts to get that right.
Incredible show. Made me give the two characters a lot more respect as actors than I did in the past. Matthew is doing a astounding job.
I want to watch the show with a very special provider one Sunday!

I know someone in the film industry. that shoot out was with a special camera attached to chest and the cameraman follows along shooting as he goes with the actors. its all one continuous shoot. this is state of the art stuff for the industry.

coming this summer is Extant, Si-Fi buffs are going to love it. serious series are here to stay.
