Leonard Slye was a bit actor who worked western movies out in the desert with John Ford, John Wayne and the like. They would go out for weeks to shoot. They set up camp and roughed it. Occasionally, the producer would send out some women to entertain for a night or two. That is how Roy (as he came to be called) met Dale Evans.
