Not until forced to. At some point I think there will be a Greek style financial crisis and then we'll have to. Originally Posted by Tiny

It’s like the wars we seem to be constantly involved in. If it were not for the occasional report on the news, the vast majority of Americans would have no idea that we have been involved in some type of shooting war for the past 20+ years.

We now have a mercenary army to fight for us, so we can watch the Super Bowl next Sunday in complete comfort.

I read that too , where we are replacing soldiers with contractors/mercenaries.

Funny how the war industry reacts to the public's not wanting continued wars.

After Vietnam, they got rid of the draft so as not to have folks that may disagree with the War they'd seen up close and personal come back home and protest our involvement.

Now mercenaries instead of soldiers.

Tiny - the Greece example is a good one.

we are headed for that kind of reckoning, if not a complete collapse.

neither party shows any appetite for financial self-restraint from deficit spending.
The brutal truth is we hire our own young men and women to fight our wars. We offer then all sorts of training and benefits, such as educational grants, for six years of service.

The catch is, you might get maimed for life or killed.

Walk up to any person on the street and ask them to name one thing they have done without in the past 20 years. 20 years while young men and women have been facing the dangers of a Foreign War.

God help us if we had to miss an episode of the Bachelor.p
