I own one of the first .44 mags Smith built in the late 50's. My dad liked nickle, and Im gald he did.

I shot it
one time without hearing protection when I was about 15. Never again! My damn ears were ringing for the rest of the day.
But Dad shot it many times without earplugs while hunting. Although he's now 86, perhaps the blast from that hand cannon is why his most frequent conversational answer nowadays is, "What?"
I have a Kimber Gold Match II .45 auto. Not much of a handgun for hunting, of course, but it's great fun to shoot!
