Scott Walker - off my list as potential GOP Presidential candidate

Those are minimum requirements, not credentials.

My bartender meets the minimum requirements. I'm not going to vote for him either.

Really? Are you actually going to play that game? Another guy who needs proof of the obvious?

In this land of 320 million, you don't think a whole bunch of people will think that is a weakness? Do you want a list of their names or something? Addresses, too?

BTW, "keep" "up" "the" "good" "work" "with" "all" "the" "meaningless" "quotation" "marks". Originally Posted by ExNYer

Out of 320 million there are some ... who can't think, some that shouldn't think, and some who can't vote even if they can or should. There are also a whole bunch of folks who vote for someone or not vote for someone because of their skin color.

If you think it's a "weakness" so be it. I think it's not. I know folks who have no college who are smarter, have more common sense, and better administrators than many people with doctorate degrees. And then I know some who have doctorate degrees who can't zip up their pants after pissing without catching their tie (in fact one was a Latin professor of mine).

By the same token I had a long time acquaintance who was the wealthiest, most successful, and well connected person I have known personally. Been in the White House as a guest with every President in my life time until he died. He watched the super bowls in the President's box regularly. I put down in a twin on his residence driveway and rode in his pvt jet across the country. He didn't finish the 5th grade.

There are always extremes to every argument or discussion, and the extreme examples are not the "target audience" in a campaign strategy. All that I am saying is of the qualified voters in this country the average is going to be about 70% who DON'T HAVE A FOUR YEAR DEGREE. It's probably not a good "campaign strategy" to offend 70% of the market, particularly when that 70% contains one's primary target for success.

The word "petty" comes to mind.

There are so many other factors to consider.

I'll give you an example of "marketing strategy" going bad.

Hershey had 85% of the candy bar market with almonds and no almonds. (Years ago). A new "ad company" decided it had to do something (to seem "relevant"). It recommended and got approved a change in that brown wrapper .. from the old dull finish to the high gloss finish. Nothing else changed. Within a year (less) Hershey had about 30% of the market.

The rest is history.

If you can't figure out the relevance of not fucking with what works, well?

Electable? PUH-LEEZ! Romney was "electable". McCain was "electable". If Walker is not "electable", he may have a pretty good chance. But go ahead, nominate someone "electable", like Jeb Bush, or Romney. Yeah! That's the ticket to victory!

God Damn can't any of you read? He just pointed out something he thought might hurt his chances. While I do not think it will hurt him , he did not imply WTF you silly fuckers are saying he said.

Lets just put this "troll bait" thread to bed. NYRKR was NEVER going to consider a Republican like Scott Walker for anything. This whole thread is just a case of dry humping for him so just let it go.
Amen brother JD.

In fact, it appears that in this thread he is constructively debating what would be a good strategy for a Republican victory. I agree with him that every single vote is needed to get a Republican elected so that the Supremes won't go too far to the left. As a libertarian, I only support Republicans under the theory that the Democrats are worse.
(Of course, I can't vote anymore, but I feel as though I have an enormous influence among the ten or so people who bother with this board ....LOL..)

This is just a dumb thread; the OP falsely claims not having a college degree won't fly with the electorate. Originally Posted by Whirlaway

Contrary to what you obviously believe, your opinions aren't "truth". They are just opinions.

Winning election for governor without a degree in Wisconsin doesn't mean shit.

The presidency is a whole different level of scrutiny.

The GOP cannot afford to give up any edge. All other things being equal, voters will go with the candidate who graduated rather than the one that did not.

That doesn't mean Walker won't beat a BAD Democratic candidate (all other things are NOT equal then).

But if Walker is running against a competent, Ivy League grad Democrat, the issue of not graduating won't help him. Some of the fence sitters will be looking for any differentiator to decide their vote. Anything will do.

Why is it small of me?

I'm not saying I'm going to vote for a Democrat or not vote at all if he is the GOP candidate. In fact, I will vote for him over the Hildebeast or Elizabeth Warren.

But I don't think he should get that far. As I have said ad nauseum above, I think 2016 will be a tight race.

The GOP candidate will get the 45% that vote Republican reliably.

The Democratic candidate will get the 45% that vote Democratic reliably.

It is the remaining 10% that will decide the election. And you cannot concede any edge in choosing your candidate.
