AZ congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford Shot

I would suggest that everybody WAIT. Just wait for a few weeks. Wait until we actually KNOW something about this guy. Alot of people are making alot of leaps of logic and assumptions. When the dust settles, I think we will find that most of these assumptions were absolutely incorrect.

Think about it. Literally before the congresswoman got out of surgery, the local sherriff was making political hay out of this and making statements to the press. Why participate in that?

This thread is straying pretty far from the topic and some of us find ourselves compelled to answer some rather strange assertions.

Having said that; W.E. I don't know you and have never met you. Any ideas of your politics I get from what you have written. Apparently I'm not the only one. I just love the charge you made of racism if we don't agree with you. Fastest way to shut down debate and a (here it comes) typical tactic of the left. Save the insults and keep your charges.

Now back to our thread. Congresswoman Gifford seems to be responding well which means this SOS failed. Before he burns in hell, he will get a fair trial and a number of attorneys trying to prove that Sarah Palin is the guilty person. This does bring up some things about our education system. His classmates and teacher were afraid of him but he was allowed to sit in a classroom nonetheless. I think there is a problem when an entire class is afraid of one student and the rights of the one outweigh the rights of the many.

Yes, more details need to come forth, but it's obvious that this guy has some political motive if he post anti-government rhetoric on his youtube page and also we know that he attended at least 1 other political meeting.

It wasn't the right wing, the Tea Party, the GOP or anyone else that influenced his violence. It was his own deranged mind. So shut up and let's move on (.org).

I just had this article emailed to me claiming that Russian Intelligence reports that the real target of the shooter was the federal judge:

http://networkedblogs.com/cNlJr

A little thick with the conspiracy theories (shooter was CIA patsy, under mind control, blah blah blah). I tend to believe that the judge was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The media report that I saw yesterday stated that he made the decision to attend the event only one hour before it was scheduled to begin.
"I tend to believe that the judge was just in the wrong place at the wrong time."

The sheriff (Dupnik) also said as much. He said the judge just stopped by the event to say hello.

The federal prosecutor is going to have a problem with this statement. He is saying the judge deliberately went to the event to discuss a shortage of judges with the congresswoman. Why? If he was just saying hello, and wasn't acting in an official capacity, its not a federal death penalty case. So, Dupnik spoke before he KNEW anything, and has jeopardized the federal case.

The sheriff also immediately went on TV to build the guy's defense, by saying that 'political rhetoric' made him do it. He then doubled down and went on a Sunday news show, to repeat this. Again, Dupnik doesn't KNOW anything. He just assumed. So, he's jeopardized the case for the 5 other murders and 7 attempted murders.

He should have WAITED until he actually KNEW something, before running his mouth.

As far as I know, it was reported earlier today that the shooter is not talking. So, for the time being, nobody knows his motivations. Everybody is fighting over a bunch of 'what ifs'.

btw - this wasn't directed at Jac in particular. Is just amazing to me that this shooting can be so polarizing, and everybody is circling their own wagon. And while it is fine for people like Jac to speculate on things, I am extremely annoyed that the sheriff has decided to do so. I am extrememly hopeful that other members of government who can affect the prosecution will not do so.

If inflammatory rhetoric by politicians incited violence, then there would be assassination attempts on an almost daily basis. 99.999999% of Americans can see it for what it is. Metaphor. Whether it is Palin's crosshairs, or Obama saying "If they bring a knife, we will bring a gun." or Hollywood producing a movie about assassinating President Bush. We cannot sacrifice Liberty because a crazy person might do something crazy. Jesus, even Charles Manson said that the song "Helter Skelter" by the Beatles was telling him to ignite a race war. Should we outlaw music? Get real, people. A deranged man did a horrific thing. Making people talk "nice" will not stop that.

It was reported that at a press dinner some years ago former Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel was holding court with some democrats (and anyone who wandered by). He was talking about what Clinton was going to do. He would shout out a name of a Republican and then stab a steak knife into the table top and shout "Dead!". Rahm did this with several names and each time he shouted "Dead!". This have never been denied and has been verified by some that were there that night.
Talk about rhetorical violence...

Guys please. I started this thread because we need to use this event as a unifier. We all agree this guy is a POS, that he has mental problems. Whatever the cause, it is a sad day for our country that these people were shot. We should say to each other, they are my brothers and my sisters and their suffering causes me grief. We should not delve into fault or blame. Lets just think about the victims...pray for the families of the dead and for the survival of and a good outcome for the wounded.
