Your history and tradition are in your DNA and can be absorbed without engaging in materialism,,,Go to your nearest library and gather info,,,One or two photos and a lot of memories will help reminisce with the deceased,,,Collecting things is hoarding and will create massive amounts of clutter,,,Lack of appreciation for human feelings? I am trying to live my life in the real world where people express and show their feelings to one another on every day of the week. You are stuck in the past and can't move on. How about you go on ahead of us there then. Now is a good time.

P.S. being broke, living in section eight housing and trolling eccie forums from the public library computer does not count as "not being materialistic"

You still living? Damn. Originally Posted by Mythos

Sorry if you lost your stuff Fancy.

Some things are irreplaceable and they become an extension of you - when that's gone it's gone. It's like getting robbed, my car got broken into years ago. Sure I can replace the cologne and digital camera the fuckholes took, but they had sentimental value I won't get back.

So I hope For the best.

That's why people who live in tornado alley always surprise me. You lose everything and yet they rebuild.

I am not materialistic and know that materialism is short-lived and doesn't mean you are living a quality life,,,But then again I am not a money-motivated whore so maybe that is why I am the way I am. Originally Posted by TheCat'sMeow

Yup, it's been quite a 24 hours. I've been lucky though - it turned out pretty good. My office was closed (all access flooded), power out at my house (but no flooding). cooked my last 3 eggs from the fridge on the gas stove and had a nice breakfast. Went to a local starbucks and did some work. Then there was the issue of a 5pm appointment with a lovely lady. So, we text and i say, well, if you have a hotel room, I might as well come down there early. But, she says, she doesn't want to drive and, quote of the day, "its not worth risking your life for a vagina"! Well, i says, I'm horny as fuck, so I'm gonna try. Look at the interweb and figure i can find a way to pick her up on the west side (we've met before) and drive into the W.Loop hotel she'd already booked. Had to find a circuitous route out of my neighborhood, but picked her up and into the the hotel. W.Loop without traffic! Doesn't get any better than that. Had the best time together, then went down to the bar for a drink and something to eat. Then out of the Galleria area near 6pm - still no traffic! Yeay me. I saw some high water at intersections a couple of times, that caused a detour, but with a little planning and common sense it worked out. I hope everyone else was safe. Back to normal tomorrow I guess. This has been the highest water levels I've seen in my 25 years in Houston - this was another one for the record books.` But I gotta say I sure made the best of it!
