Looks like the leave campaign was run on lies, rumor and fear. Sound familiar? Wonder how the Brits will feel if Scotland and Ireland vote to leave the UK ? Originally Posted by i'va biggen

Yes it was a lie and the leader of the leave movement has admitted it was a lie and not one penny is going to national health care. Well reported with the direct quote just about everywhere on all the media web sites Originally Posted by BigLouie

you are falling for the media spin doctoring trying to get Britain to panic over the markets and reverse the vote. everyone knew the markets would react to Leave as they did. it won't last. markets are always volatile.

the referendum isn't binding. we'll see what spine Parliament has. my guess is they'll let the media and the fear mongers spew enough negativity that they'll back off leaving the EU.

Sorry Remainers, this expert says you won't get a second Brexit referendum

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/sorry-rema...143447982.html

Not to burst anyone’s bubble, but one of Britain’s top elections experts says a re-run of the EU referendum is pretty unlikely any time soon.

An online petition calling for a new vote has got more than 1.5 million signatures since Thursday and that number is growing fast.

But Professor John Curtice, whose exit poll was the only one to predict the Conservatives would win last year’s general election, advises not to hold your breath on another Brexit ballot.

He says the subject is so divisive within mainstream political parties and their supporters that it would be unlikely to form a campaigning issue for some time – let alone spark another public vote.

Thursday’s referendum saw 17.4 million (51.9%) votes cast to leave the EU, compared with 16.1 million (48.1%) for remaining part of the bloc, with a turnout of 72.2%, according to the Electoral Commission.

Curtice said: “How many people voted in favour of Leave? Seventeen million. One million is chicken feed by comparison.

“It’s no good people signing the petition now, they should have done it before. Even then, these petitions don’t always mean a great deal.

“It has passed the 100,000 mark for it to be debated in Parliament. All that means is that some MPs will say, ‘It’s a terrible shame’, others will say, ‘Hallelujah’. Then that’s the end of it.”

But the professor of politics at the University of Strathclyde did suggest that if the process of the UK extricating itself from the EU machinery was dragged out then the door could open a little for the British voters to have another say.

He said: “If Boris Johnson is running the Government and it (disengagement from the EU) is taking a long time to be implemented, two years down the line we could have another poll showing people actually want to reverse the decision and remain in.

“Then there could be a situation where the opposition party in a general election have a mandate to hold a new referendum on it.”

Something tells us that a second showdown between the Remainers and BeLeavers won’t be any prettier than the first.

as expected the "fix" might already be in play ..

Labour MP Urges Commons Vote To Block Brexit

Senior Labour MP David Lammy has urged Parliament to "stop this madness" and vote to overturn the result of the EU referendum.

The former minister said the Commons should "bring this nightmare to an end through a vote in Parliament".

The MP for Tottenham added: "Our sovereign Parliament needs to now vote on whether we should exit the EU.

"The referendum was an advisory, non-binding referendum.

"The Leave campaign's platform has already unravelled and some people wish they hadn't voted to leave.

"Parliament now needs to decide whether we should go forward with Brexit, and there should be a vote in Parliament next week.

"Let us not destroy our economy on the basis of lies and the hubris of Boris Johnson."

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has already ruled out a second EU referendum despite an online petition calling for a rerun of the vote attracting more than a million supporters.

"The referendum has taken place, a decision has been made, I think we have got to accept that decision and work out our relationship with Europe in the future," Mr Corbyn said.

More than 110,000 people have signed a separate petition on the Change.org website, calling on new London mayor Sadiq Khan to declare the capital independent from the UK and apply to join the European Union.

The referendum saw 51.9% of votes cast to leave the EU, versus 48.1% for Remain, with a turnout of 72.2%, according to the Electoral Commission.

and it gets better still ...

The EU's priority is to maintain stability and prevent a contagion. Logically that requires swift and decisive action. European Parliament President Martin Schulz says he is already consulting lawyers to see if there is a way around Article 50.

like what? revoke it? ignore it even exists? lol

And a revised offer from the EU, to help influence British electoral politics down the line, looks problematic. The EU cannot afford to be generous to the UK for fear of encouraging others to follow its lead.

The Establishment is not going let a little thing like the will of the people get in their way. The U.K. will not leave the EU.
