Lets Talk Football

My point was Bradshaw isn't stupid per Hollywood Hendersons famous quote. And I wasn't comparing his wealth to anyone else's. But he has done quite well for himself. Staubach was smart enough to build a business empire. Not many ex athletes do that. Most try and fail. Jordan is basically marketing his name thru Nike like Bo Jackson before him and Woods after him. They needed the help of Nike to produce their wealth. Palmer was the original international star. He was involved with starting the sports agency that others used. Palmer owned many business and was a very charitable man. Arnie will always be the King. Originally Posted by bambino

While Thomas Henderson never claimed to be a Rhodes Scholar, he was smart enuff (or lucky...whichever) to purchase the right number combinations to win TWO separate lotteries. In 2000, he cashed in a ticket for $28 million....my oh my...

He's come a long ways since those dark days (ie: 2+ years spent in prison; molestation charges, etc). Today, a model citizen and philanthropist, Hollywood is contributing to those in need in his community. I guess the fairy tale ending can come true on occasion.... Originally Posted by Chateau Becot

there are only a handful of former athletes with more money that Staubach. all i can think of are ...

Michael Jordan
Arnold Palmer
Tigger Woodchuck

most of Bradshaw's money he made after football as a sports analyst and so did Staubach, he just made a lot more of it

I'm not a Romo fan but I think Dallas would be 13-0 right now if he'd started from the season opener. A lot of Quarterbacks would flourish behind this offensive line. I believe too that Romo will get the last laugh on this Quarterback situation. Jerry Jones is going to replace Dak Prescott with Tony Romo for the playoffs just like Denver did last year with Manning.

some people just have a cloud following them around

This Dak-Tony debate that the millennials (via social media / facebook, twitter, etc) in conjunction with the knee-jerk "hungry-to-create-a-story-about-the-Ratings Gold-Dallas Cowboys" media (sports talk radio, espn, printed, etc) have conjured up as of late is totally absurd.

Now...as of this date, today...if we were talking about a 31-32 yr old Romo, fine...he's been the starter; let's put him back in and see what he can do. BUT...the man's 36 (and that's an old 36 too, kiddies....we ain't talkin' about Tom Brady here by any stretch of the imagination). He's been physically broken down over the last 2-3 years and that is an undeniable fact.

The sooner everyone (who believes a QB change will solve Everything) stops romanticizing "how great Tony Romo was" on every single pass he ever threw over his illustrious career, the sooner this franchise can move forward. Folks, this is not Roger Staubach riding in on a white horse to save the day....it's not even close.

The future belongs in the hands of what has been the most unlikely of gifts, delivered by the football gods in the 4th round of this year's draft on a Silver Platter...Dak Prescott. Let him make his mistakes now, learn and grow from them. Think what he'll be this time next year and the year after for going through the trials and fire of NFL adversity. The Cowboys will be so much better off in the long run for it.

It's amazing that Roger Staubach never ran for a public office.
Always seem to be alot of drama with cowboys
