I truly do love how this issue is trying to spun into many different directions. Nice try, but that garage isn't going to fly. The infraction was given because there was a clear guideline violation. The only reason I'm even participating in this discussion is because I was called out directly and I'm trying to give some clarity and transparency to the process.

The key takeaway here should be that you have no way to know who has and hasn't been pointed for which posts and you're fools if you assume infractions aren't doled out to controversial members who like to push the boundaries.

Also, just because you THINK something is/should be a violation doesn't mean it is. Those "assholes" you don't like are often just expressing their opinions. Don't like them? Feel encouraged to disagree and tell them so. It's called freedom. Mods aren't here to protect your feelings, we're here to maintain a modicum of civility according to the guidelines to stave off total anarchy. That's about it.

You want moderators to be draconian in the enforcement of the "spirit" of the guidelines when it comes to the posters you don't like. Hell you want us to censor and ban the members you deem "assholes" even when protocols put in place almost a decade ago don't call for it.

Every forum in existence has its trolls and assholes and prolific attention grabbing posters. If they do not then I guarantee they utilize draconian enforcement and censorship to make it so.

So I get it, you want a kinder, gentler ECCIE for all. It's a beautiful dream. Use the ignore feature and your dreams can be realized immediately.

I will continue to enforce the guidelines of the site as consistently as I can according the the years of precedent behind the scenes and using narrow rather than the broad interpretations some of you seem to love.
