Like you won't?

No, it's very obvious.
You keep bringing them up to divert attention away from trump.
He's a total disaster. You're glad trump is in. Not so he-be-a-bitch. Even He-be-a-bitch is bitching about trump.
In his own stupid way of course. All he does is complain Clinton didn't beat trump. He blames her for getting us in the mess we're in. Keep pointing everywhere but at your butt boy.

Most everything is affected by temperature, douche-bag. But glass isn't significantly affected by the normal atmospheric conditions. It gets more brittle, but that's about it. The expansion and retraction are negligible in the operating range. Pyrex has an expansion coefficient of .09. Iron is 1.2.

"For any given substance, the coefficient of linear expansion is typically a number expressed in terms of 10−5/°C. In other words, the value of a particular solid's linear expansion coefficient is multiplied by 0.00001 per °C. (The °C in the denominator, shown in the equation below, simply "drops out" when the coefficient of linear expansion is multiplied by the change in temperature.)"

Are glass/mercury thermometers as precise as electronic thermometers? Probably not but it all depends on the scale of the thermometer. The point is that glass thermometers have been capable of +/- .1 degrees F for quite some time. Calibration can be an issue for individual thermometers but in the overall group in a large area won't have an impact.
You're claiming because you don't know the details of the maintenance of more modern equipment that it's unreliable.
You already assume it's incorrect and you look for info that backs that up and ignores info you don't like.

I completely understand it.
Both concept and the limitations of the different types of instruments.
The fact remains you don't know science and you scoff on researching your "answers". Whether or not the information has been skewed can be debated. You can claim an entire profession is lazy or lax.
But the instruments are reliable within the scope of use they were designed for. They are calibrated when made. They are sealed. Glass isn't a liquid.

I'm sure you have heard the word "twerp". As educated and well off as you claim to be, you are nothing more than a twerp. And a racist twerp at that.

For WTF and his followers, at no time have I ever said (or written) that I think the Apollo 11 moon landing was fake. I watched it on TV in the summer of 1969. Of course, people like WTF and his cum guzzling ilk also think a life time non drinker is posting drunk. I don't know what his boyfriend has been imbibing but it sounds like WTF is getting a contact high from his cock.

Back to the OP (I do hope that the moderator has taken note of all the people trying hijack my thread), win, lose, or draw the media and democrats want to make this election some kind of litmus test for Trump. They have pumped in so much money that anything that happens cannot be a test for anything. Kind of like researchers with two lab rats; one white and one brown. A bet is made which rat is the stronger and better rat. One researcher starts injecting his favorite with vitamins and steroids. The other researcher not wanting to be beaten (even through cheating) starts doing the same and starts blood transfusions with younger blood (doping). The other researcher starts replacing body parts with bionics which is followed by the other researcher doing the same. From the first moment that they tampered with the rats the results were invalidated. Same thing with this election. Who ever wins, who ever loses, it means nothing to the body politic except how much money can we spend.

How do you calibrate a sealed thermometer with fixed markings? How would the readings change if no mercury is lost? In what way can it change? Over what period of time?
See, you're lazy
First, you said glass is a liquid. Then you said it expands or shrinks with temp. Which is true but not a significant amount.
You don't have a clue what the linear expansion coefficient is or how it applies.
Then you bring up the Bureau of Standards. First off, that is a US institution. Europeans don't use it. Second, the Bureau has information on all the thermometers the scientific community would buy. No one would buy a thermometer that wasn't approved. They would have long-term data on the sealed thermometers. The degree of accuracy depends on the scale. Like I said in the previous post. The instrument is accurate and repeatable withing a set range as determined by numerous factors.

It's obvious you are using someone else's talking points (you're a parrot). And you don't know enough about the subject material to even discuss this.
You don't even know the basic states of matter. Take your "ass kicking" down the road.

I'm not going to dumb it down for you. You said I was too stupid to see how glass was a liquid. Turns out you're just barely smart enough to know better than to try to explain that little-known fact.
Just because you can't understand what I'm talking about and you won't research anything except Southern Klan Living, the limits that define you don't apply to others. It's called learning.
You ought to try it.

You haven't refuted a single point. The Bureau recognizes instruments that don't need calibration. Like a ruler douche-bag. Do you take your yardstick in for calibration every year? The thermometer is calibrated when it is manufactured.
We have a meltdown in progress. You have no facts. You proclaim you're not losing but actually winning. You're kicking my ass and you're going to light me up.
Ohhh. I'm afraid of the scary man in the white sheet.

Comprehension isn't one of your long suits, is it?

Several people (at least 3 or 4, as I recall) pointed out the obvious fallacies inherent in your "argument." They presented their opinions. And as Mr.
Stupid himself, you see a lack of response by the mods as a "win".
I bet you have a shelf of participation trophies, don't you?
Yet you decided to plow right ahead and double (triple? quadruple?) down on stupidity, didn't you?

But go right ahead and continue calling everyone who dares to disagree with you a "douche bag" or a "bitch."

You dropped out of that thread quite some time ago but it looks like you want to discuss anything but trump.
Funny how the president is missing in action in a political forum.
I'd be ashamed if I were you too.

BTW, all sorts of shit is calibrated when it is made. It needs to be checked later at certain intervals especially when billions of dollars of government spending is riding on it.

No way you will ever convince me they know the exact temp 100,000 years ago. No fucking way!

Scientist have changes their thought on what happened to dinosaurs from when I was in elementary school. Now they want me to believe they have accurate temperature reading for the last few 100,000 years?
