So now that Austin is "nice"

Alright folks... Knock it off....

Refresher Course on our Forum Guidelines
To all,

I wanted to take a moment to call to attention a few of the site's guidelines to be sure everyone understands and is on the same page with what is expected and what will be enforced.

The following is not permitted on the site:

Insulting Others
Targeting other members for attacks
Harassing other members, groups of members, class of members, etc
Disrespecting other members on the site
General rudeness toward other members on the site

I would like to refer you to ANY posts made by WHISPERs in the last 48 months. It would appear, by any means of comparison, he has broken all 5 of those guidelines. To say it's "not permitted" seems a bit spurious at least.

Before the shutdown I would tend to agree. Drama was allowed and mods were told to let most of it go. But if you've paid any attention since the site came back up you know that things have changed. My last post is an excerpt that St C posted to direct that change. A lot of what was allowed before no longer is. Whether for better or worse only time will tell.

First of all, awesome handle, Mr. Coitus. It inspired me to Google "Tony Curtis yonder lies the castle of my father", and it turns out he never said that:

But back to your comment:

To post or not to post, that is the question. Whether tis nobler to say nothing and be thought an idiot, or to post something totally lame and remove all doubt.

If you have something interesting to add, then go for it. If not and you don't give a rat's ass if people think you're an idiot, then have at it. It's still a free forum, as long as you stick to the guidelines.

Of course that requires thought, and for some people, that is a rare commodity.

Austin is "nice" now.

There is no conflict. No drama. No personal attacks.

How useful do you find it these days?Does it fill your needs?

Still as useful as it was before needs are met...

Is the information you need to make educated decisions readily available to you?

No it is NOT...The change to alerts and what can be posted only hurts the ladies

Do you believe the negative aspects of interactions with providers is still making it to those that need to know?

Of course or at least I hope it is

It's true that smack talk is interesting and stimulating. Just look at Three Billboards Over Ebbings Missouri. It wouldn't have been half as interesting without all of the edgy dialog, and it won Oscars for Francis McDormand and Sam Rockwell.

But also look at how destructive it was in the movie. Words are important. They're not sticks and stones, but they can snowball into all kinds of stuff that we don't want in our lives.

I think the guidelines are there for a reason, and we may not know all of the reasons because it is confidential and we don't have the need to know.

If it's not as interesting, maybe that's a good thing. We can live with it, because we're not attracting undue attention.

Our goal is to make hobby connections, not to entertain ourselves with smack talk that can lead to real world confrontations.

It only takes a little self-control to refrain from saying things that cross the line. The pay-off is that you get to participate in this community, and that it will flourish because there is trust.

Smack talk does not encourage trust.

agreed Dev, not to mention when the smack talk was outright lies and bs info. the smear campaigns, troll gang ups on innocent folks and outright false info put out there in a malicious manner was why this needed to happen. the trolls can only blame themselves for the new eccie.

Sue, I know that you know this, but you are a human being worthy of respect. When people are disrespectful to you, even when they tell lies about you, I like to think that it's more of a reflection on them than on you.

I can't speak for everyone. Maybe some people believe everything they read.

But I believe you. You just come off as much more believable.

I know that doesn't make everything better, but I hope that it helps a little bit.

Being nice is a good start if you wish to establish trust.

It doesn't always mean that you are a nice person, but coming off as a mean person doesn't come off that well unless you are planning to be mean.

Maybe some people are into that, but my guess is that most are not. They would rather hang out with nice people.

Correct me if I'm wrong about this.

You know, dude, we've been through this before. Why do you always keep hammering on Sue?

As near as I can tell, she hasn't done anything to you. Yeah, you said that she said some things online, but then you couldn't back it up.

Why is it so hard for you to just let it go? We are all so lucky to be alive on this earth at this point of time when everything is a fucking miracle that we take for granted.

Why not accept the fact that Sue is a person that you have a personality conflict with, and then go on with your life and enjoy every moment available to you now?

Why do you persist in attacking Sue? Is that your only joy in life? If so, how could this possibly be a joyful experience for you.

I really think you would be doing a favor to yourself to take a step back and ask yourself how your are spending these limited days of your life, and if you are maximizing your potential for joy and happiness in this limited time that you have.
