Correct-- nobody went to prison. But there were a lot of folks who couldn't discharge their mortgage debt in bankruptcy due to falsifying their income. A lot of people don't realize that if you falsify your income to get a loan or credit card.. and later file BK-- the company can ask to see financials because lying to obtain credit can make a debt non-dischargeable. Someone above made mention of there needing to be a complainant in order for an investigation to take place. That's patently false. If that were needed-- there wouldn't be half of the investigations into drug rings, etc. Investigations require very little to begin.... you don't need a good bit of evidence until you attempt to bring something to the grand jury. It IS a bit of a fishing exposition-- I'll absolutely agree with that. But he has had a history of shady financial dealings. However-- like everything else.. it won't actually matter unless it jumps the line to blatantly criminal-- then we're going to have the debate as to whether or not a sitting President can be criminally charged in state court.
