Welcome to Communist China and our Bug Tech overlords

Given that, what are you hoping to happen berry? Do you want the government to compel private companies to allow hate speech and misinformation? Seems like you're in a catch 22 here. Originally Posted by 1pittsburgh

It's against the law to discriminate based on sex, race, religion, etc. Why should it be legal based on viewpoint? Seems like you're in a catch 22 here.

You might also want to ask a moderator on eccie or any social media platform if there is a clear line separating rudeness from "hate speech". Or separating a dissenting opinion from "misinformation". I sure as hell wouldn't trust you to be making those calls.

however I do believe that Facebook is one of the more harmful entities on the planet right now, so I would not miss it, if it went goodbye. Originally Posted by El-mo

Cool - now do Parler. Parler policed their forums as they saw fit, just like Twitter and Facebook. But Big tech conspired to remove Parler from the internet as part of the mass silencing of opposition voices.

Again, I don't care what side you are on, this should be chilling and appalling to anyone with a working brain and knowledge of history. Originally Posted by berryberry

Here, lets try another one: do you want the government to forcibly compel Amazon to do business with Parler?

FB, Twitter, IG, etc., don't censor people because of their political affiliation. They censor people based on criteria written out in their user agreement. Typically for posting lies or hate speech. Tens of millions of Republicans continue to post on these platforms on a daily basis.

Sadly, members of the Cult of Ignorance, Cult 45, show blatant disregard for the facts. "Waaaaaaa. They censored me because I'm a republican. They censored me because I love Furher Trump." No, dummy. They censored you because you violated the policies that you agreed to.

im not a twitter guy, so i have no idea if this is still out there or not, but ask yourself, regardless how you feel polictically

does this seem like twitter is acting even handedly in its ways..........

like i said before, both sides should be very concerned over these companies and the amount of power and influence they have

And I'm not the only one thinking that. Apple, Amazon and Google all saw their stock prices drop over 2% today. Twitter sank more than 6%.

Second, you specifically said "Twitter, FB, etc. can police their forums however they see fit." Well if they can do that why can't Parler? You don't get to have one set of rules for Liberals and another for Conservatives.

And yes, Facebook, Twitter, etc DO censor people because of the political affiliation,. You bury your head in the sand and cheer it on - that is what people of your ilk do. Hell just in the last day, Facebook censored the page of noted Libertarian Ron Paul. Ron broke no rules, received no warning, nothing. But Facebook censored the page and removed his ability to administer it. But I guess you cheer that on to.

On your latest question where you try to play another silly game to distort the issue, at a minimum, Amazon needed to adhere to the contract it signed with Parler which requires 30 day notice before any termination of service.

You know it's bad when *GERMANY* is calling out the United States over fascist behavior - German Chancellor Angela Merkel attacks Twitter over banning President Trump, calling it a "problematic" breach of the "fundamental right to free speech." She warned it is a clear overreach by the bosses of American social media platforms.

You can listen to the Mexican President's warnings about Silicon Valley censorship when asked about the Trump ban. Following the center-right Chancellor Merkel, the leftist AMLO said they were becoming “a world media power" anointing themselves "judges of the Holy Inquisition":

Hey BerryBerry, how about you shut the fuck up, put your money where your mouth is, grab your zip ties and whatever piece of clothing you own with the cheeziest American Eagle graphic, and try your luck this Sunday in Washington DC?

Then rport back and let us know how it goes.

Well, just like I predicted, none of you far right wing guys have been able to answer the question. You've all danced around it. There are tens of millions of "conservatives" still on FB and Twitter, so to say they're censoring people because they're "conservatives" is simply a lie. I think I'll take another break from trying to reason with the unreasonable.
