How do you feel about gambling?

If you mean "don't interject race into a thread that has nothing to do with race" I agree completely.

And just who made you board cop? Originally Posted by GaGambler

Gambling is a losers hobby, be prepared to lose more than you win

I enjoy gambling and going to casinos. Been going weekly my entire adult life. In the 30 years I've been hobbying I have yet to have a dollar of that returned to me. So in comparison at least gambling gives you chances at good monetary payoffs while getting the high. And some hot girls can be found in them thar casinos.

Research has also found that most gambling addicts have very high IQs and hold more Masters and PhDs than not FYI--might have something to do with the high. So what I ultimately take away from all of my years as a well comped gambler is that it is fun and no more of a loss when you lose than anything else in life. But there is that fine line of going over your limit that bankrupts you, destroys your life or brings crime that you cannot cross. Fortunately I've had enough discipline to not go down that road. I've had big +$50k nights and losses never under $2k in an outing.

And one more thing, someone mentioned something about streaks. It's true they can exist but each roll, each card, each pull is always independent of any other regardless of which streak you might be in. Superstition is part of the gambling thrill too. It is very real and any gambler who isn't, in my opinion isn't a pure bred gambler.

I realize gambling comes in different forms, this was referenced toward money and casino gambling. I've also gambled in the stock market and with women. Women bringing me the most loss.
Personally, I feel pretty positive about it. I love the excitement of potentially winning money, and I think it can be a lot of fun as long as it's done carefully. One thing I really like about online gambling is that it allows you to potentially win money regularly. I've had some good luck with online casinos, especially when I use ones from the 5 Euro Casino Deposit list. If you learn a game's logic, it can be pretty easy to win. Of course, it's important to remember to always gamble responsibly and within your means. But overall, I think gambling can be a fun and exciting hobby as long as it's done in moderation.
I’ve been to Vegas probably 5 to 6 times, have only played the slot machine called Wheel Of Fortune, it has more than one chance per the press of the button. I have always won money playing this and only this machine, the trick is to bet the max each press of the button and be willing to add more money, you have to sit there for a while and eventually it pays off, that goes for most slots. The mistake many people make is they only insert a few dollars, press the button a few times and walk away, the probability of winning isn’t in your favor by this method, you gotta play the long game. The other piece of advice is play late, late night or past midnight, follow the employees who take a break at this time, they know which machines are due to pay out. Last piece of advice is once you win a substantial amount or the machines starts to ding ding ding, take your winnings and stop playing, it’ll be quite some time for this same machine to pay out again. I have always and I mean always returned home from our trip at minimum breaking even, everything I spent during the trip including hotel, dining and playing slots, when I returned home I had the same amount of money, basically a free trip. I don’t play in the newer casinos, they ain’t set up to pay as much as the older casinos, by older I mean the ones near Fremont street. The other thing to do is sign up for their comp cards, they are very valuable if utilized correctly, free meals, gifts etc. I called ahead once before flying to Vegas, called the Horseshoe casino to see if my comp card account was still active or if I would have to establish another, the person taking my call confirmed my comp card was still good and immediately offered three days and night at no cost, the thing was o remember is they want to accommodate you sos as to keep you spending money at their casino. Once there my then wife asked for two more nights , they accommodated the two more nights at no cost.
To me it seems like you have to be a masochist to enjoy gambling. The most enjoyable gambling I ever did was for pocket change with my teenage friends. They used to razz me when I would quit after losing my predetermined amount. Gambling to lose, ie las Vegas, no fun at all.

The one time I was there, hate to sound racist, but seems like I saw a lot asians gambling. Is this like indians and drinking? Ok so I am a racist, bring on the boos.

I actually love it.

I don't do the tables. I enjoy the slots. I actually won 12k betting 50 cents last summer on a slot machine. I put in $20 and cashed out 12k, after taxes I brought home a little under 10k.

The key to "winning" is to know when to walk away when the machine your on isn't doing anything but spinning.

The hours between 2am-6am the machines are geared to basically spin with no results. Once they come and collect the $$ from the machines, they tighten it back up and then they start hitting again. So when you see them "moving the money "...go sit in that section and play.

Now if you want to hit jackpot, then yeah, you pretty much have to play max bet which I'm not a max better, so....

Thanks for the iVice. From all. Just control your vice.
... "... know when to walk away" is surely great advice.
Seem to remember a good Australian card-sharp who once
gave Ned Kelly and me-own Pap some advice like that.

... Hmmmm... I'm thinkin' it was something along the lines of
- "you gotta know when to hold 'em ... and know when to fold 'em"...

If you decide to give it a shot, keep a cool head and set limits.
